Everyone here has a huge amount of knowledge. Some as drivers, others fabricators, and still others designers. I know of other projects that have been group design projects where multiple people contribute small amounts, and it results in an awesome final product.

I am putting feelers out there to see if anyone is interested in doing similar for an offroad buggy.

I would suggest the following rough parameters:
    - Entry level buggy (to give those with less experience a starting point)
    - Low (if there is such a thing) budget design
    - 1-2 seats
    - Bike engine powered
    - Lots of off the shelf parts (for driveline etc.) with minimal machine work.

(BUT... If you don't agree with these goals, post below and lets get something everyone wants!!)

Ideally, I would imagine we could develop a 3d Model, some plans to build a chassis, and a few files full of all the parts to either fabricate or send to the lasercutters.

I appreciate lots of people on this site sell plans, so we don't want to take away their business. The goal would just be to help those who need a bit of encouragement. I personally am stepping it up for the next build but those like me with a buggy under my belt and some racing experience know what to do. When I started... I had no idea of what to do or what to build. I think a group design project for people like that would be a great project for this community

    The replies are flooding inn!

LOL, I was just about to do something similar. But I want help designing a short course only style car.

The only problem I see is people spending their valuable time contributing to a project that may stall and never get completed?

Otherwise I like it. Don't you have plans in the works already?

I have a lot of plans and dreams half drawn. Problem is that I'm too particular to let other people work on my dreams, haha.

Ok, I like the short course idea. What do you want in it. Lets start basic. Hopefully more people can chime in.

Perhaps if it ends up being you and me, we can sell the plans and split the profit

    Wheelbase: 90-100"
    Track: 75-80"
    Suspension travel front and rear: 12-15" F, 10-12" R
Suspension type: Double A arms front, Rear ? (I like the 3 link design, thats halfway between a trailing arm, and double A arms. You have an arm stretching back from in front of the engine on a heim, with two links behind the rear drive. Lots of names for this one including semi trailing arms...)
Ground clearance: Ride height 10", full compression 2"
    Wheels/tyres: 26" rubber
    Powerplant: Big bike engine
    Drive: Chain to rear spool

    Reverse: Something? maybe starter motor?
