Radiator Lines...

Ok...got a civic radiator and fan, and have ordered up some reducers from RickS (thanks). As far as the radiator lines go, what is everyone using?

I think I can use part of the stock lines, but having trouble finding a coupler to attach the 1" lines...seems like everything is too small.

For hose, I'm thinking of using 1" heater hose, it's just connecting them where I'm having the problem.

Ideas anyone?

Have a variety of hoses and fittings like couplers, reducers.

If you have acess to a lathe, and a TIG welder, cut the old nipple off, and turn down a new one to fit the 1" line. NAPA has 1" heater line too, and it's cheap!

a metal supply shop should have tubing in both steel and aluminum that will fit. I try to use as much tubing as possible.

+1 on the tubing. Alum is my first choice, then steel. I'm assuming you are meaning joining 2 1" pieces of tube? I also like the silicon hose.

I've lived up to my screen name...didn't think about cutting down some aluminum tube. I've been searching the net, looking for something local, but 1" couplers I guess are an odd size, and I thought I needed like 5 of them, and at $10, was trying to find an alternative...i have no access to a TIG, so can't TIG a bead on the ends...you think a slight flare would be alright, so hose can't slip off the tube?

At first I was just going to use silicone reducer elbows, but I needed to pipe in another line from the thermostat to the top...so just getting the reducers from RickS. I'll use 1" silicone hose to connect everything together.

I'm going to attempt to do full tube, but don't have a 10 bending die...would a conduit bender do the job?

I would sand the ends where the hose goes, it will seal better and not slip.
