Now that I got GM power steering pump that is driven by a engine fan belt I can power a HYDRATECH brake booster (also called Hydro Boost). The HYDRATECH brake boost is the most powerful brake booster you can get. The HYDRATECH bracket booster solved my brake problems , I have very powerful brakes now.
This shows the hand brake on the steering wheel. The brake hand master cylinder lever is on the left side of the steering wheel, I am using a Magura 195 radial master cylinder that has a 20mm diameter piston. I welded an extension on to the clutch lever to get move leverage.

This picture shows the lever arm. The slave cylinder is the red part at the bottom of the picture. The master cylinder on the steering wheel actuates the slave cylinder and pushes its shaft moves outward, the level arm pivots and pushes the brake booster in which applies the brakes. The lever arm is set up to amply the movement from the slave cylinder this reduces the force produced at the brake booster end of the lever arm. The slave cylinder does not produce enough movement to operate the brake booster, so the lever arm set up is needed to amply the slave cylinder movement.more pictures. The lever arm is 2.3 inch from slave cylinder hole to pivot hole, 4.6 inch from pivot hole to brake booster hole.

Need to mount a pressure switch in the brake that is connected to the wiring harness so the ECU can pick up when the brakes are on

The Yamaha foot brake pedal has a switch on it that tells the ECU when the brake pedal is depressed this is a required function for the buggy to run. I am using AN-3 steel braided lines so I got a inline pressure sensor fitting that fits on the AN-3 steel braided lines.

Now that I have the power steering pump installed I can use a Charlynn Power Steering system it is sold by Howe Racing. This is a very powerful system , I can steer with 1 finger if I want. Also get no feed back through the steering wheel , no kickback of any kind. The Yamaha electric Power Steering is not powerful enough when you have a steering quickener. I was using a 2.5 to 1 steering quickener with the stock steering rack and the Yamaha electric power steering , this set up was hard to steer. Later on the Yamaha steering rack got a lot of slop in it.
I installed a Weller Racing steering rack that has 2.1 to 1 steering quickener built into it. This is much stronger steering rack.

I need the steering wheel to go to full steering lock at round 90 degree turn of the wheel. Because of the brakeline and throttle cable coming out of the steering wheel , if the steering wheel is turned more that this it causes problems.
The Weller steering rack did not turn quick enough to go to full lock in a 90 degree steering wheel turn. I added a Howe Racing 1.5 to 1 steering quickener in the steering shaft. 2.1 times 1.5 gives me a 3.1 to 1 steering ratio. This works out to be a good ratio for what I need.

I built the brackets to mount the Charlynn torque generator on the tilt steering arm
I welded a bracket to the frame to hold the the Howe Racing 1.5 to 1 steering quickener to do this the steering shaft is cut and 36 spline fittings are welded to the steering shaft that will slide on to the steering quickener
The Charlynn torque generator was getting hot when I was driving , this may or may not be a problem. I added a oil cooler to the system mounted in the front radiator shroud area

The Charlynn system has 7/8 inch smooth diameter shaft fitting that has to welded to the Yamaha steering shaft at the top. I machined a piece to side into the Yamaha Shaft that will center the Charlynn fitting when I weld it
The 1.5 to 1 steering quickener has 3/4 inch diameter spline shaft and the Yamaha steering shaft 5/8 diameter smooth shaft. So I cut up a 3/4 diameter spline shaft fitting into 2 parts. I cut a 5/8 diameter fitting into 2 parts. I welded one of each type of fitting to each other. One end will slide on to steering shaft and is welded to to the shaft. The other end will slide on to the steering quickener
This set up works great with no problems.

when you have hand controls , if going to hit something you do not want to take your hands off the steering wheel because that where the brake lever is. So you can keep your hands on the brakes (steering wheel) and there is no kick back in the steering wheel when you hit something, no injury to your hands. Charlynn unit is great for handicap it protects your hands
