    GSXR Speedo Sensor mounting
    #1
    Default
    Hi all,
I have a 06 gsxr 1000 motor and the stock speed sensor comes mounted on motor front sprocket cover. My current buggy design doesnt allow for this cover to fit, so I was wondering if anyone has tried to relocate the speed sensor?
Looks like the sensor is looking at divits in the front sprocket, wondering if I could mount it to say the rear axle and use a speedo healer to adjust the reading.

    Has anyone done this?

    thanks

It should have this bolted to the end of the output shaft after the sprocket

Ahh, got it. So due to the gear box i am using, I cant reuse that piece, however I maybe able to machine a custom piece with that same slot for the sensor to see.

    thanks

You'll probably get a higher resolution reading with the pickup reading off of something turning a higher rpm, like the output sprocket, but I think you'll be fine picking up off of something on the axle and then using a speedo healer.

I'm not familiar with the speedo healer other than hearing about them on this site, but is there a chance they can only "heal" over a certain range? That may dictate what component you read off of - but I don't have a clue if that's even an issue.

    I love Google!

    Speedo Healer

That's a cool little gadget! I will be getting one for the sled speedo in my Mini-Raptor project.

Ya I think the one I saw was like +/- 100% adjustment range
