Had my first race. Onboard camera corrupted most of the videos, so only one survived. Need to pay for the recovery software so not likely to get them back because i'm cheap. Anyway, great fun, good people, horsepower, what more can you ask for?

Hey great to hear you have a race under your belt , looked like a pretty cool course nice and loamy plenty of room too. Ok question time .

Were there any other minis ?

    Where was it ?

    How did you go?

Was it a CAMS event ?

I got more but that will do for now

The event was called "Superior Engineering Short Course". It was at caboolture, about 30 mins north of brisbane.

There were 8 or 9 minis on the day, racing in a class called 'superlights'. A mini took overall first for the event.

Not a CAMS event, but there was scruteneering and safety regs, but they were pretty basic - just needed a fire extinguisher and window nets/arm restraints on top of what i already had.

It was my first event, there were 6 races of 2-3 laps each. Started out about 20 seconds off the pace over about a 4 minute course. Don't know how close I got but was much faster by the end of it. They started at 30 second intervals and unfortunately i was rostered first out in every race, so coiuldn't really follow anyone which meant it took me a while to get used to the track.

I managed 5th out of the 8 minibuggies (but think 6th, 7th and 8th all failed to finish a race or two resulting in disqualification). However, I was 14th for the day out of 50 cars in total, from modified 4x4's to side by side buggies, rockcrawlers, and a bunch of other cool machines. I was really happy with the result and am still smiling. The best part was that the only problem I had all weekend was a flat tire... which i only found AFTER i got home, think theres just some dirt in the bead so should be a cheap and easy fix. Gotta love a weekend driving without any real problems.

The good news as well is that It appears my buggy is pretty fast! Managed to keep up with everyone (any slowness was driver related rather than horsepower). There was a drag race as well, Screwed up the start badly but once I had it going i hung in there pretty well.

Thanks Talon, I can't wait til the next one, its in 12 weeks or something. So much to do before then, think my list of jobs just keeps growing the more I get done! Really want to move the fuel tank (its underneath the seat at the moment, don't really like sitting on 20L of petrol), put outboard rear brakes, panel in the sides, put an electric reverse in,window nets rather than wrist restraints, the list goes on and on.

Thats why i'm not married Talon, don't have to justify my childish behaviour, and impulse buying to anyone.
