Regarding the front end, thinking about doing Banshee front hubs with brakes. Question I have is, would I be better off just getting the Banshee spindles too or have them made and weld them on to have proper Ackerman steering angles? Wasn't going to get the Titanium spindle set, way too expensive, was looking at getting one in Chromoly or maybe just factory replacement.

Buying bolt on parts is always “the easy way” to go for more than one reason.
Easy to replace, less work, already has correct geometry.
    Definitely something to consider.

Fair enough. I was just concerned that the Ackerman would not be quite exact due to being on a short wheel base vehicle by comparison.

    Dirt car, correct?
Ackerman is kinda an afterthought in the dirt. Yeah, it's there but it's minimal as to what it causes/does.

Anyone have any luck using essentially a go kart digital dash on their mini buggy project? Looking at one for about $200 and it has the option for a cylinder temperature probe, which would be beneficial if I continue to go with the current engine I have. The probe would be setup on the inner cylinder because that one would get the hottest since it's the furthest from the fan. Also, wanting to use it for the tachometer, since trying to locate classic Arctic cat techs is not the easiest. I've seen them on occasion on Fleabay but not often.

Air cooled motors in buggys have a tendency to over heat.

I'm not aware of this specific unit but 100% better than killing a good motor guessing.

The probe needs to be in as much contact with the head as possible.

    Sounds good.
All dressed up and waiting for the beer to arrive.

Usually the probes I've seen from Arctic Cat and the go kart one I've been looking at, all sit under the spark plug directly on the head. Havent had much luck finding reasonably priced snowmobile engines as of late.

I've used digital tachometers for years. Unfortunately, they are the type where the battery is non-replaceable. I've thrown away two tachometers over the past few years. I just bought a new tach that has a replaceable battery, but I like the idea of having a digital dash, with speedometer, tachometer and also a temperature gauge. I took a quick look and found one for $170, plus you need to buy an adapter to use it on an air-cooled engine. A little pricey, but I think it would be worth it.

I would jump in and buy one, just for curiosity's sake, but I have about 5 projects behind schedule right now. Gotta get those finished before the weather warms up and the riding season is back!!

This was the dash. Guess I forgot to put a link to it. $169 for one. https://gokartsusa.com/dunebuggyspeedometer.aspx
