    Hey, I bought the prints yesterday and got some pricing on steel before I start buying anything/everything any advice? I priced out .065 tube, It was recommended in another thread.

    Thanks,
    (Doesn't seem to be a lot of traffic on the site, any other sites for more information?)

    I have a great deal of .065" wall tube on my buggy, but I used some .100" wall on the suspension mounts and critical members.
    With a properly designed cage you don't need the heavy wall stuff everywhere.

    Do you figure Badlands is a properly designed cage?

    I do not know that design very well so I can't say for sure.
    Basic principal is load paths. Connecting tubes from suspension points are one place to start. Another thing to consider is if in a roll-over, the roof tubes should also have a good load transfer down to the base frame.

    It's not a really a buggy its more of a go-kart, no suspension

    The recommended motor size is 9-23hp, I've got an old two-stroke 200cc 21hp motor I'm going to try and use.

    Also I have priced pretty much everything out on the prints, I'll post the final price with some what of a breakdown.

    So I've priced most everything out that is on the plans, I know a guy could get the price down but the total is $2,700.00 no motor

    Steel = $673.00
    Nuts & Bolts = $67.81
    Princess Auto = $450.00
    Mis = $1,427.50 (tires/rims/steering wheel)

    I think Badlands had the price with out the motor coming in at $1,000-$3,500 so thats fairly accurate, not sure how you get it done for $1,000.00? Everything i priced was new and as per Badlands plans, So if i did some more research I could probably save $800.00? For example the tires got priced at $575.00 and I found rims/rubber for $200.00 used, so thats almost $400.00 knocked off.

    Any idea what the other buggies cost?

    I wouldn't use .065 for the roll cage on that one , plans call for 1-1/4" sch 40 pipe that is about 1-5/8 OD and a little over 1/8" thick
