If it was vavles it should start hard. (atleast most the time)

Check the spark when hot. Could be a faulty pick up coil, ignition coil, CDI ect.

Does it start right back up after it dies?

I know it sounds strange but it is most likley your fuel filter. Scrap the stock one and get one from a parts store, less than $5.00. It should solve your problem.

Rhino's had a problem with their vaccum pump too. I've known of a few which took a dump. Open it up and look at the diaphragm.

took time to really find out whats happening after it warms up if i give it gas to about 2thousand rpm it backfire throught the carb until i give it gas.on higher rpm it runs fine. also took it out for a drive and when i come to a stop it will backfire or pop and wants to die till i give it gas but then i go to another stop and it will run fine.cleaned carb, replace fuel filterand also replaced spark plug.thanks guys for your help.

Only 16 hours on it? Is it out of warranty?

Probably running too lean, try running the next size up primary jet and see if things improve.
