Rorty! Plus you get support and a good laser parts connection for the R16 and other models that might be inetrchangable.

Maybe talk to TutTech, he runs VW's, he's a little more of a desert racer, but I am sure he knows a thing or two about sandrails also [smilie=mhihi.gif]

The Rorty R16 might take a VW in mid engine. Standfast put an Eco in one with a CVT to an RPM box. The VW is a good engine and lots of duners use them. An R16 'dub would be old school meets new school. I say go for it if you want to build from plans or if not contact Tut for a cool beam car.

Just out of curiousity is there a reason you like the VW motors? You talking newer VW liquid cooled or aircooled VW?

Have to ever messed with motorcycle powered rails? They tend to be faster and more reliable than a VW rail built to be as fast as a good bike powered rail.

New VW motor to kick an ecotec motor butt?
:D

I do VW air cooled as that is my class or was my class and my sponsor builds them for me.
I want to do a motorcycle mini buggy really bad.
I have built some mini frames etc. but do to lack of funds I have not had a chance to finish a motorcycle car yet.
I can get sponsors etc. to help with the VW stuff but not with a motorcycle engine.
Dang I would love to try one out and see what all the hype is all about. ;):D
I build desert cars with beam front ends again I do this for racing.

Rorty has great plans and as others have said you can change out your motors.
Send Rorty a message and talk to him he has done a lot with the VW even designed some
stuff for them so has a ton of info.

Also what type of car do you want?
2 seater? size? race car, sand car etc?

I can set you up and old school meets new school VW car like the one in my signature with
your new VW motor. I have set them up for ecotecs so your motor can fit no problem.

Good luck and keep us posted on what you build.

Would be a two seater sandcar for sure. But who knows depending on how much stuff costs.
