Hi guys (and gals),

found www.minibuggy.net (http://www.minibuggy.net) through www.weldingweb.com (http://www.weldingweb.com), where I recently joined. I will do the same basic intro:

I’m attending the University of New Orleans, studying mechanical engineering and have slowly amassed a good collection of tools for fabrication and building as I needed them to build things I engineered – or at least things I imaginered.

I will try to keep this short. Basically I want to design and build my own car but I doubt my abilities to do that as of yet… which leads me to minibuggy.net I want to build/design a mini buggy as a sort of stepping stone if you will. I have designed and built a few soapbox cars for competition among friends before I moved from Maryland, and helped build one go-cart… powered by a very old Honda motorcycle motor (only swing style rear suspension). So a minibuggy seems to be a logical progression.

At any rate I have a ruff idea of what I want to do:
MC powered
2 seats
Independent suspension all the way around
Street legal in LA (no locked rear… almost just lighting in this state)
And the KICKER? Under $2,000 (want it to be $1,500 or less)

$2k may be almost unrealistic, but it is my goal. This will limit me to an older sport bike motor and car differential in the rear at the least. *cough* junkyard build *cough*

At any rate I’ve been lurking a bit and decided to join.

Welcome! *Sounds intriguing even if you go 300 percent over. *Good luck and keep us up on your progression. *Cheers!

Welcome to MBN!

Check out the minibaja teams if one is at your school. Seems like a great group of people who are doing what you want to do!
