Has anyone used or heard anything about the arctic cat prowler. I'm thinking of getting one. I realy like the polaris RZR but it is not practicle for what I want to use it for (hunting). My brother has a couple arctic cat quads and they are very durable and I like them lots. But I would like some opinions on the prowler.

I wish..........the only thing I can tell you is stay away from the Kaw Mules......way underpowered, far less capability.

[smilie=haha2.gif] I did a similar job in high school, for the local power co-op. I ran transformers etc out to linemen. Only we had late 80's S10's with 5spd transmissions. Thats where I learned my unique, drive it like its not yours, driving style. Something fun about being able to take the truck back at the end of the day, park it in the lot, and just grab a diffrent one the next day.

with the rediculous price of shipping and labor, i have decided to remove the factory roll bars "light bars" they are called, and build a full 6 point roll cage, I wouldn't worry so much but i am putting seats in the rear for my own 2 little ones, I could give a shit less about anything other than that area....The factory bar has a sticker that says, not intended for roll over protection....Here is what i am going to do....

besides the roll cage install, and the rear bucket seats install, I am looking at shocks, a windshield and a soft top...Top will probably be custom made after the cage is built, I have a good friend in the upholstery business...Shocks likely i will go with works with resis, I don't want to experiment with springs and stuff, and the king setup is 1800 Bucks, compared to 1200...

Did anyone expect them to run the Thundercat? I don't know how long it will last...

I don't know for a fact that the 1000 will make it, I do know that it is a living, breathing machine. I will know more when my brother and uncle get done playing on all the new stuff soon.

EDIT: Info from the show, reported 09 lineup... (copy and pasted)

Bugpack how's the prowler holding up? Did you get the cage, seats and shocks
done? I briefly talked to a guy one day when I was out riding my dirt bike and he had some elka shocks on his prowler. He really liked them their probably a little cheeper than kings are. Any problem with the rear diff getting to hot and the fluid melting the acordian on the overflow, or the parking brake dragging or sticking? These are two things I remember him mentioning he had problems with. It was a while ago so I might be forgetting something. This was back in December when it wasn't a 100 degrees yet, 75 and perfect riding weather. Now its hot.

Thanks for catching the typo. I should have corrected it when I posted...

My Uncle and brother will be at the show soon. One bad thing about being out of the country. Hard to keep up with what is going on.

Good thing is I have plenty of time to plan building a new toy! Thanks to this site, I will stop putting the idea off.

On another note, Later when I get a chance I will post some video of some playing around we did on a new one a while back. Oklahoma at Guy Cooper's place. I didn't think they would fly very well but have since learned that you can make anything fly, you learn the weak areas when it lands!

By the way, the weak area on the Prowler is the quality of the shocks! They can't take the abuse of some jumping...

That should do it. Get some video of that thing in action! I like to see the looks on people's faces when they see people racing in UTV's. They don't realize that if you build something SOMEBODY is gonna race it!

Most people, like Guy, run a RZR now. Still yet, when you can run a 650 Cat with the RZR's and modified Rhino's around a track and be competative, it speaks well in my book. I have done a bit of offroading in the cat also. pretty fun if you are somebody into 4 wheel drive stuff. With these you can go out and ride around with the rock crawlers without building the rig.

Now I just have to sell a few toys to build a few buggies. I kinda like the rig Yoshi is working on... Need a single seater busa toy. Also need a two seater for the times when you and one other person want to go play. Get's old when you have to ride alone. Besides, nothing more fun than listening to the person next to you scream!

Yah, jumping a stock prowler= not good. I saw one in the shop the other day with the front left wheel pushed up thru the left side into the cab area. Pretty much everything broke or bent on that side. I guess the guy claimed he barely got off the ground and was trying to get it warrantied. Good luck with that one.

Well, I have jumped one over table tops on a "UTV" track. (I'll post the vid when I get off work) The cat does as good or better than some peoples modified rhinos. They do pretty good... For what they are. We have jumped them 4 or 5 feet off the ground. only damage was to the shock. I hope they stop skimping out there...

If the damage is that bad than that guy should be SOL. I can't imagine what he went off of and then landed into.

We messed up the shock at Little Sahara. I might have pictures but I don't think I do over here... If you get a run at it you can get a pretty good rise out of somebody riding with you on some small stuff.[smilie=whistle.gif]

I got to agree with you, the guy had to hit something really hard. Coming down on it from a couple feet up would not do that kind of damage. Looked like the work of a big boulder or he put it off the trail into a wash-out or ditch. More of a front impact. I think he was SOL as far as the warranty attempt.

Like others, I rarely bother to get video and pictures. Here are some vids that a guy did while we rode at Guy Cooper's place. I think I have more someplace of the actual races in Stillwater, but I don't know where I have them right now...

Keep in mind that the Cat was a brand new demo and we didn't want to mess it up... That part came later in the races!!!
