Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Desertdog 670. *I found there web site and really like the looks of those buggies. *Just wondering how they handled in the dunes and how the power was.

The 670's all right, but nothing to write home about. *It was the setup Jay did on the first Coyote.

If you're thinking two stroke, get Jay to put a 1000 triple in one.

But if you really like the Coyote, get one with the Apex engine - 4 cylinder, Fuel injected - about 160 hp. *The car rips with this setup. *Killer throttle response, great bottom end and smooth as can be.

The car is a blast in the dunes. *They have a rear end that helps steer the car and it makes for a quick turning, yet stable at speed vehicle. *You can get way out of shape and the car gathers itself up and goes on.

Overall, the car rips.

Other than the motors are they all built the same, suspension and handling wise?

The chassis and suspension on all the Coyotes is the same from model to model.

Damping and spring rates may change a bit with the difference in speed the higher HP cars can attain and the difference in weight from the power plants.

The higher HP cars may handle a bit differently than the 670, as they're quicker/faster and it changes the dynamics of the way the chassis works, but none-the-less, the cars work beautifully regardless of power plant.

The Apex engine is what Yamaha is now calling the RX-1 engine. *It's the 1000 cc sled engine that's based on the R1 street bike engine. *Check Yamaha's web site and navigate to the sled section. *Makes in the range of 160 hp.

The new Apex is fuel injected now, the RX-1 was carbed.
