Yesterday was our first race of the season at bobs raceway. We only
had 3 people show up our class. The weather was terrible,Cold rainy
and the track about 4" deep sloppy mud.
I had a terrible day,My suspension sucked,I had been tring different
setups and this one didnt work.I was pushing through the corners with
the front end and hopping through with the rear end.I do know what
the problem was and its a easy fix.
The first heat i only made 3 laps when my motor died. After being
towed back to the pits i found a loose coil wire and got it running.
In the main i got a lucky pass on the last lap and finished
second. The whole main race the motor ran terrible,It was seriuosly
falling off on the top end,After the race i found out why.As i pulled
up to the flag man to collect my trophy it died again.I was running
very hot so figured it just overheated,I did try to start in again
when it stalled but it made a horrindis sound so i stopped tring and
got out only to see my new K&N filter had fallen off and i had sucked
who knows how many gallons of mud.
When i got home i drained the oil and pulled the carb. The carb was so
bad nothing would even move it.Looking inside the boot i can see the
valves are completely packed with mud.
It looks like i am gonna need a complete tear down :(
I have rebuilt many 2 strokes but never worked on a 4 stroke so if
you have any starting advice i am all ears.I will keep you posted.
BTW videos of the race will be posted on http://www.pilot-odyssey.com
One is there now,the other will be soon courtesy of dave (odypilots)
thanks dave for posting them.

Sorry to here about your motor downfall. At least it waited until you took 2nd place before turning into midsucker.... This would be a good topic in the ::::Fabrication::::-::Motor:: section. Wish I had some advise but I'm not really a motor tech. Never cracked a case in half myself, replaced a top end before but that's not too hard. Good luck getting the gunk out.

Hey Bill, how's the motor?

PS I don't want to get too political here but I really like your bio line. :D

Hi ken, I just received my rebuild parts yesterday.I have the new piston and rings in as well as the jug,The head is giving me much trouble removing the valves.
Unfortunally it will not be ready for tommorows race. One of the other racers has offered me to race his back up buggy so i can hold my postition in the points.
