I found this Piranha on Craigslist and traded a quad for it. But the AR51 has so many performance upgrades My poor little Piranha kept telling me it always knew it was an AR51 on the inside. So we discussed at long length and had many visits with Dr. Rick and decided it would be best for all to let the inner freak fly.

We started the surgery this morning and I think I have it cut down to clean up and install the new front and rear end. I teach High School and Christmas Break started this morning so I should have a good chunk of time over the next 2 weeks to release all the stress caused by freshmen.

First Picture is where we started and then where we ended today. The new identity parts are on the surgery table ready to go to work.

Progress has been pretty good so far. I was able to construct and install the rear carriage assembly. Next I will start on the A arms and axles.

A arms and hubs are in. I made them a little different then the plans called for. I used what I had on hand.

Good job. Are you going to run the links from the uprights forward to the chassis?

I am contemplating that. I think I will remount the motor and assess the situation at that point. I want to make sure that nothing gets in the way or I may relocate the bars a little.

If you go to the first page of my build you will see I put a brace in from the top of the bearing "saddle??" to help stop the carrier twisting under load. Some of the blokes over east had issues with this flexing. Mines been spot on.

They are a good looking buggy aren't they!
I like the use of heims as well.

Yes it is. It is a much improved design over the piranha. Right now it kinda looks like a platypus though. But that will change. ;)

Well, let's take a look at my steering mount. It's an awesome mount that I drew up and cut out on a plasma table. Strong, sturdy and good looking. Spent the afternoon building and installing it. When I was finished I turned the steering box left and my wheels went right. Never checked to see if the box was upside down. OOPS!!!

Well I fixed the steering issue today and got a rolling chassis. Here are some pics of it on it's own wheels now.

True point. Greatness comes in small numbers. Or maybe its a Darwin thing?
But I still have my shotgun. HEE HEE[smilie=evilgrin.gi:

ARG! DAMN YOU! haha. Actually there is a little planning behind the scenes here. It involves an LS, R-16, chassis modifications for visability....

I like that a lot. That frame can definitely handle that. I look forward to watching that develop. keep me informed. Are you thinking rear engine or mid engine like mine. I think rear would give better balance for in air activities. Mine seems to drop the nose

I am thinking mid engine actually, but rear is not out of the question yet. My car dropped the nose too, but I think that was due to lack of throttle application at the take off. My car now will do a sick sky wheelie of too much throttle is added just before flight.

That's cool Justin. I must be a little red hen and back off the throttle and close my eyes like a little girl. ;)

Here is the latest progress. I got the motor mounted. I decided to set the original GSXR 750 to the side and put in the Honda CBR 954rr I had sitting in the corner. I made the mounts adjustable side to side to make sprocket alignment easy. Now this week I will be working on the exhaust. Twin pipes 2 cylinders each side.
