Well it's been along time coming but I finally got the ball rolling on this project. I have been lurking in the forums here for as long as I can remember but always had one reason or another to not start a build of my own. I got started by building a bender using the got trikes plans I am happy with the results so far no complaints http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/e9d9a436c9d711701672c563ef408ddb.jpg
Then built myself a table to build on, most definitely not as nice as some of the others I've seen on here but it should serve my purpose
http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/4d3db6f7cf037b4b4ad773ded608885a.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/7d776c72f946d3e60a6ea583a90057f7.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/2242f1adac6300695cdfb0c0b86672af.jpg
My a-arm jigs are finished and the trailing arm jigs just need the plates welded on. I don't have many pictures of them but here they are http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/26fb48613a518d434671df3bd89aba18.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/905d8ff73a76f8387300a226a16f6450.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160606/a9c74f2728f5242a886e92f8c4e225e6.jpg
Got a start on the bottom layer of the frame over the last week just waiting to get my hands on my plate kit from Rorty before I start tacking things together. I should have it in my hands a couple days.

Thanks guys. Nothing much to show..these showed up the other day. I'm not going to need the seat belt tabs for awhile but I wanted to have the small tabs on hand so I ordered it now. For the price they charge it's just not worth my time to make 100 little tabs by hand..

The plates from Rorty USA did show up unfortunately the package was destroyed in shipping and most pieces are missing.. Thankfully customer support from Australia is top notch and a new kit will be sent out asap.

Small update... Things are moving quite slow. The replacement plate kit from Rorty USA still hasn't shipped I really hate to post this but I'm more then a little angry.. I had originally ordered the plate kit March 9th was told there was a 2 week lead time for them to be cut. May 3rd I asked when they would ship. Was told it would be looked into. By May 6th I had not received a response so I asked for a refund until it was figured out. The refund was promptly processed. May 18th I was told they were ready to ship, I paid again and had a tracking number May 20th Great!!... June 7th I received a package that had been repackaged by UPS as the original package was so poorly packed it destroyed the standard cardboard UPS box that the 40lbs and 116 loose steel plates were packed in.. Needless to say UPS didn't pick up all 116 pieces and I got 38...Christian in Australia was good and said they would have a replacement kit out ASAP.. After several inquires and several excuses here we are 5 month after the original order date on July 11 and I still don't have them... Alright rant over on to the positive stuff the middle layer is finished and tacked together I don't have a finished picture but here is one during bending http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160712/10c4523069ae0ede1840deefbed476cf.jpg As soon as the plate kit does show up the bottom layer will be tacked together and the mid and bottom layer can be attached. The main frame is pretty much at a stand still until that point unfortunately. I plan to lower the roof line a bit, I just think it looks better lower and at a angle as has been done on some of the other builds here. So to make sure I will still fit I ordered some seats and harnesses custom from PRP they have not arrived yet but will be very similar to these http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160712/c7a2b9baa7014b9817583ec2b34a29fd.pngThe trailing arm jigs are finished as the jig plates did make it here. I ordered the 4130 for the trailing arms and arms about 2 weeks ago so it should get here soon. I also purchased a crashed 2007 cobalt ss with a 2.4 Ecotec for a donor engine. Engine has about 70,000km (44,000 miles)I pulled the engine and stripped the car last weekhttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160712/05ff1962a1bdaa6c25b08423783c9817.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160712/c7f4aa9a3d2355e546d707697752eb72.jpg I have not had it running yet but it seems to be in good shape other then I'll need a starter as the solenoid is damaged..I got a really good price on the car and should at least be able to recover my costs and end up with a free engine by selling off the remaining good parts.

Cool looking build! Where are you located in Canada? I'm just outside of Ottawa.

It's crazy that Ontario is that big. You up by the Manitoba border or something?

Small update. Plate kit came in awhile back allowing me to continue with the frame. Been making slow but steady progress. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160814/943c930c365ad03f9cf11e188871a36c.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160814/a49d95fcf631cf4bb7c38f9423373626.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160814/69bd0c3db510abda8dc1af9282ddc0e3.jpg
Plan is to get the last tube in the front end done and get all that tacked up and have a good start on the a-arms before the seats show up which should be in about a week.

Build is looking good! Nice to see some Rorty action.

I've been away for 2 months so haven't caught up with MBN for a bit. That was one of the reasons things didn't go smoothly for Devin. We have sorted most of it out now - just waiting on a few small parts that should be on their way now.

It is difficult to do cutting and shipping remotely as you're relying on others, it is a lot cheaper though than shipping from Australia so I gave it a try. Unfortunately I was let down by my USA contact who was too busy at the time with his paying job. Still he's made promises and I have 2 more kits on the shelf there and he's certainly learnt how to pack a little better!

I may have to revisit the DXF file supply - I know Bob ran into problems with copying of parts so I have been wary about distributing them. Cutting in Aus is a bit cheaper than the USA but freighting heavy stuff is relatively expensive.

One thing you can count on is I will always make good on orders one way or another. Things don't always go to plan or fast sometimes! I'm always happy to help through your builds as well as I hope Devin can attest.

I'm getting final machining done on front hubs and wheel centres so they will be available soon to suit a new Wilwood brake package that I've been speaking to Devin about.

I have some detailed build photos and descriptions from Kevin Downing and Roc (older build threads are here I think) both with ecotec engines; one transaxle the other is CVT. Details will be on my facebook page and rorty.net

Looking forward to more pics

Thanks Christian, all is going well now. Seats finally showed up a couple days ago and I started on the top layer today.. I have been using Facebook messenger to contact Christian with any questions I have. It's a excellent way to do it with the time zone differences, I ask a question during the day and most times wake up to a detailed response. Keep me updated on the front hubs we will get them on the way as soon as they are ready. I would imagine shipping across the pond won't be quick.

No worries, its good to be involved.
The 5 x 205 front hubs are on their way back to the machinists for some lightening and minor mods. They are not very heavy so shipping should be okay via airmail. I'll let you know. It will be a few weeks before they are done.
Im also doing a custom set of wheels. These have the right off-set for the r16. This can affect the steering. Kevin installed power assistance for his as he was getting too much feedback through the wheel and the steering was heavy. Too much negative off-set can do that.
if you want Wilwood brake parts I can organise that anytime, they drop ship from Wilwood CA. I can give you a good discount too. Same goes for Latest Rage where I get a lot of stuff. I also have a steel supplier in the USA who does good prices but I think you're pretty set there.

FYI
I'm speaking to another interested USA distributor who has machine shop and plasma/waterjet cutting equipment and experience. I'll post up in Rorty news once we finalise things. My original helper and I are parting company.
Hubs are being machined along with the wheel centres and ding rings for my wheels. Hope to have them back in a few weeks. I'll post some pics to give you some ideas. Attached is what they are supposed to turn out like!
