Tazmannusa posted that he bought his Comet 780 series CVT from the Belt Palace.
I found out they also offer a Comet reversing gear box with 1-1 ratio in forward and 2.7-1 ratio in reverse.
Since I would need a jack shaft for the driven anyway, this gear box would take the place of a 3/4" jack shaft plus offer reverse all for the interesting price of $333.33 .
Has anyone used this gear box and have any comments regarding how it worked for you?
It appears the Comet products are readily available thru the Belt Palace.

I have a Manco Deuce that I believe uses that box.

I have been running it with 25" tires and a Briggs Vanguard 20hp...we have run it hard and seems to be going strong.

Ive always been curious how they hold up! I may have to add some mounting brackets for one in my design under the engine!

I found the same Comet reversing box at BMI karts for $245.00
I was hoping that the input and output would be off set so the driven could be higher up in the chassis.
Dain; do you feel your 13 HP buggy could benefit from a reverse?
My previous 2 mini buggy builds used differentials and because of the small turning radius (5-6 feet) I did not feel a need for reverse with 4-6 year olds driving .

Absolutely I could benefit from a reverse! Also benefit from having neutral. I may add this to my upcoming build with the 22hp Predator - I think a reverse gear will be required to make it street legal.

Description says maximum input is 4000 RPM. Those engines modified could potentially put out up to 6000 RPM.

Mascman, is your Vanguard stock governed or is it modified? Governed they run max 3500 RPM.

It is all stock...we use it in tight woods and rocky terrain mostly so top speed was not much of a concern.
