I spent 3 weeks playing Columbo- finally found and spoke to the owner (Goot). Asked him to consider tacking a frame together for us, and we would drive to SoCal and pick it up.

Never heard back from him,

You want an EBK- follow the trail, study the pictures, do your research- and build your own from scratch.

Don't get me wrong, was a really nice guy to talk to. Just seemed to be very dis-interested in building buggys anymore. Sounded like life had taken him in a different direction, and we were all good with knowing we had to build from scratch if we really wanted something like the EBK.

This is the 1st of 2, this one gets an R6 carbed. The second car will be a late model GSXR injected- at least that's the plan.

EBK was sold to someone in the UK. The website is still up but not sure if they build anymore.

Vorra, great job on the build. Front A-Arm pivot points look in line with top and bottom. Are you getting Positive Camber at full bump?

Jody's Proto spool, with plunging axles. Would love to see someones motor mounts for the R6. Leaning towards a micro sprint layout right now.

Yeah, we were negotiating with the guy in the UK as well. Shipping was the deal breaker on that go. Guess thats all a bust, because the cars were built with all USA fasteners and such. He told me it's really tough to get replacement parts as everything is metric on the other side of the pond. That Kart Cross shit is big in Europe, theyre just not really into long travel cars. Pity!

Well it looks like your doing just fine on your own.

Digging this one back up.

Midnite, Which EBK style were you looking for? I might have one coming up for sale soon. It is the standard version(not the larger chassis) with a Honda 250ex quad engine in it.

Let me know if you are interested.

Hey Bruce, the car looks good. I wish Imwould have had time to build you a chassis but just super busy right now. I would like to build some more cars for sure. I have been getting many requests lately . Here are a couple videos from a very successful race car we built in Australia.

Not sure if you saw the post but someone just bought a complete EBK that was built by one of my guys for himself with a Gsx 750 for a great price.

Bruce I just read your message about the ride heights and the plunging axels. We would run between 10"-13" clearance at ride height with 29" tires. The plunging axles have been very strong and easy to maintain, they were able to achieve more angulation than a cv joint. With the short axles a few extra degrees made a differance in travel. If you are willing to give up some travel you can run 930 cv joints.

Also EBK was not sold to anyone. A dealer in the UK was going to try to sell the cars, but wanted the cars shipped with no motors and was going to try to finish them himself but it was more than he was capable of doing there. Maybe some day soon I will build some more cars.thanks for your interest !!!

Bob, thanks for the response. Exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Now I need to find somewhere to pickup some flange plates (930 pattern) to fab the axles. I've got a local driveline shop thats willing to work with us. Any ideas ?

You'd sure have some takers if you ever decided to make the EBK again. Those guys at Hall are supposed to be making the UTK with a 600 cc motor-maybe another avenue for some guys to get into racing on a budget. You could compete in that market for sure.....

Bruce, I have been getting more and more requests with the success of the race cars that are doing well. The flanges are easy to get if your looking for the ones that would be used on the trans side.

Are you looking for flanges or plates with the 930 pattern. Do you have any recent pics of your car

Bob, I need plates that have the 930 pattern. Yes, with the width of the car I would have to give up travel with the 930 CV- so the plunging axle is the solution. My drive line guy said he could fab plunging axles for me no problem - just didn't have a source for plates that have the 930 pattern to marry the yokes to. I'm running a Protodie live axle / center carrier - 930 cv pattern. I took some pictures of the axles you ran on your cars, as well as pics of the Jess CV and he said no problem. These are a few snaps of where I'm at on the car. Your thoughts ?

I should have the plates. The car looks great, it looks strangely familiar!! You didn't need me to build you a chassis.

Thanks Bob,, that comes as a huge compliment. I've studied the EBK to the point of headache, nothing a few shots of Anejo wouldn't cure. LOL

Let me know what we can do on the plates.

duplication is the highest form of compliment..............

The EBK is an awesome buggy, I'm sure you can tell by the interest here. I was dead set on having one - took me 2 weeks to find you and finally talk to you. Anyway, yeah - bent it all up in the shop. Alot of trial and error, templates etc. I think it's gonna turn out pretty cool. Hopefully we can find a class to run in locally (VORRA), maybe geared right we can run with the 10 cars. Power to weight it should be pretty quick and nimble.

That would be great if you could take a look for the plates when you get a chance.

I would be stoked to see a mini class in ANY SoCal series. Someone was trying to start one for a while. They were calling it Desert Lites if I remember correctly. I would NOT want to run with 10 cars unless I had 4 feet of rubber padding attached to the back of my car. The best existing class for us would be the unlimited UTV SR1 class. They already have streetbike motors and are roughly the same size. Sportsman wouldn't be very good either. There some fast 4 seaters that I wouldn't want to get punted by.

Vorra65

Well, gonna have to find some class as Im pretty sure they wont let us run with the UTV's.
There was a guy that ran in CL 1 in a Drakart that had a Busa in it. He was fast-
Saw a Trophy Kart last year run with the UTVs, not sure will have to talk with them more.

Bruce I have 4 plates if you need them. Where is your sprocket going ?

Vorra65
09-21-2015, 08:15 AM
Nice, thanks Bob. I"m using one of Jody's (Protodie) live axle's. So the sprocket centers on the 930 pattern. Let me know what you need for the plates, and how I can get it to you.

Bruce just send me your address and I will get them out. The shipping shouldn't be to bad so I will take care of it.
