Looking into building a recon car/buggy and would like to know how the ST4 is in street driving ?

Like any live axle (spool) rear end, it's gonna push a bit, but overall, it should do just fine on the tarmac.

My Deztaz tends to push in parking lots, but out on the street, with a bit of speed, it works just fine (well, it tends to lift the inside front tire in corners). The RZR XPs do great on the street - the rear tires moan a tad in parking lots and it will go from understeer to oversteer in "traffic speed" corners - you have to watch throttle application if you want to be civilized - or you can romp on it and throw a nice slide around the turns when (in)appropriate.

I won't have any second thoughts about my Mini-Raptor being driven on the street other than it should be one hell of a good time.

As long as your suspension's set up well, and the chassis can move about in the suspension like any well sprung off road car should be, it will weight bias the corners appropriately (using brakes, throttle, steering and a grin) and you'll be fine. [smilie=thumbs_up.g:

Thanks K-fab. I was going to PM you ,now I do not need to ! Cool.

What i'm thinking is to go with a cut down Jetta trans axle with a R1 or something for power ? This will give me revers and a diff. Motor will be transverse so will go with trailing arms like the 900/1000 RZR.

Was also thinking about maybe using a 900/1000 RZR trans and maybe a APEX with CVT ? But no diff ?

The base chassis in the ST4 looks like a good place to start. It would give me a front suspension that is all sorted out and I would only need to workout the rear.
