Ok guys, it was bound to happen...another thread about Glock's buggy.

So I am totally stealing our leader's RPM driven alternator idea. I thought I had ordered the same alternator as he did but I didn't it turns out. What I did buy was a 'New Chrome Chevy Mini Alternator Denso Street Rod Race', according to the Amazon.Com verbiage.

Sooooo anyways, here's the deal. It's a one wire alternator but there is also a receptacle that has two blade type contacts. One has the letters 'IG' next to it. I assume this means ignition. Some one said here at work I have to jumper a wire from the main output stud to this contact. Anyone smarter than me on this?

In the 3rd pic you can see the two contacts..90 degree opposed...framed in black. If you zoom in you can also see 'IG'.
Main stub is labeled 'B'.

I haven't a clue! Mine's a single out put line that just goes to the battery.

I wonder if you need to do some sort of jumper switch that will allow the unit to charge?

You do realize that chrome only belongs on drag cars and 57 Chevys right? [smilie=yuck.gif]

ok a little busy and then come to find out that little plug I don't need it for anything at all its just going to ride without anything plugged into it. My next issue is does anyone know how to determine which PN v-belt(type a) to use with a certain center to center length between pulleys and their diameters?
Gotta paint two wheels, install one speaker, install pulley on RPM box and install a turn barrel to adjust belt tension.

Glock thats about the same ALT I have and I converted mine . The two prong is left open or ya kin plug the fm end into it for looks with nothin on the wires , all ya need is the power hooked up

Cool. Thanks Rat man. That further let's me know I'm headed in the right direction. My pulley should arrive this morning. Then all I'll have left is to get a belt and a turn barrel. Then I'll plug in my 50 amp fuse into its holder and I'm in business.

Maybe I missed it, any reason for the alternator? Just more of a strain on the stock system with the lights, and fans? Cool idea though.

And the reason I asked about the battery was if ya was usin the bike battery the big alt prob wouldnt help as much . Ya got it covered with the Jonis top battery :D
