Does anybody have any experience with the diy zinc plating kits like this>Copy Cad® & Zinc Plating Kits - Electroplating & Anodizing - Caswell Inc (http://www.caswellplating.com/electroplating-anodizing/zinc-plating-kits.html) Im wanting to get some parts coated but have no clue where to send them or how pricy it is.

I looked into another brand but the same process, and I basically found out that the amount of materials and the 15 amp DC power supply I would need were cost prohibitive. Even then I would be coating one rotor or part at a time. A 3 amp supply and the kit in your link only plate 21 square inches at a time. I tried calling local platers in my area and could not get a response. I turned to a can of zinc paint that I use at work for welding repairs or drilling on galvanized steel. It isn't the prettiest, but it protects. I can use steel wool to clean up parts that have tight fits. My rotors and axle parts are zinced that way. I've also been lubing tight metal to metal contact points that I may want to take apart in a few years with zinc or copper anti-seize.

I had a local plating shop zinc plate some parts for me (brake rotors, steering shaft, spindles, rack extensions, etc - things that could not be painted) and it cost maybe $60. Looking around the shop that is not a process I would want to mess with at home. I just searched for local plating shops and contacted the closest one.

Thanks guys. I did a search and found a few places here in Missouri so i will contact them and see what they say. The bad thing about living in the boondocks is you have to drive for hours in any direction to find specialty services such as zinc plating or ship the parts.
