KX2=kids experimental 2 seater.

I was rearanging(trying to get to milling machine!)my garage and had to put kids engine up on the bench to get floor space. So I figured why not mock up the rear axle real quick.
I'm going to try my three link(which is now going to be 4 link)idea from my other thread.
Sketch is off a little, but its close to what I'm going to do.Shock will be on the lower link not on the axle mount and it will have two rod ends on top instesd of one.(I think)
Obviously the shock in the pick is not the one I'm using, just a visual aid.
Lower link is upside down, wouldnt stay the other way.
Lower rod ends will go between the two bearings pictured.
Engine will be between/under the seats,as low as possible.
Engine is 250cc and has built in reverse.
Paid $200 for the engine.
Anyway just dumping the pix here can explain more if any one has any questions and I'll add as I go.
Nothing will be getting really done until the Briggs is running,so my 14 yr old should be just getting out of college.

Dont know whos truck that is but I went to Elsinore weekend before last to check out the lucas race. Nice sunny day with lots of girls showing off lots of nicely tanned skin. Anyway Sheldon Creed was running a V8 prolite, a SR1 rhino, and a Trophy Kart. The kid is 15yrs old and has got MASSIVE MASSIVE TALENT.

Reverse ackerman and all? I don't think your kids will be sideways that much. :p

Why didnt they just put a rack in it? The short links with the box working in a radius and the rockers working straight left to right?

Well, considering there's no ram on it, it's probably a lot cheaper. Plus you get that extra little bit of bumpsteer while cornering as a bonus...........

I rockers are going left to right but also working in a radius moving the pickup points up and down. Its always sideways anyways.

No ,no reverse ackerman, prolly rear steer though.Kids like to make new trails.

Just the basic layout and the way it attaches to the frame.

Going to be short, wide and low.

Those pics have been on RDC forever, dont know how old that one is.

I will be following this close...always like the micro/kids sized projects. What is the doner for the reverse 250?

Bullnerd

Its a Carter interceptor GTR 250.

I bought it without seeing it run,but the kid was pretty cool and said if it didnt run he would take it back.He couldnt find the ignition.I bought an ignition assy from the gokart place.Set the engine on the floor, plugged in the new key and it started right up.(after I figured out it has a neutral safety switch!DUH!)

Heres some pics of the engine.Kids put the seats in front of it from the Briggs.

Nice, looks like a great motor..probably even more power than the 16hp box motors and reverse is a huge bonus and no clutch to deal with.
