Going to build a sidewinder on a budget :cool:

I was wanting to know what sprockets axle bearings and breaks i can to use for it for cheap ie: not from the edge

I was going to use a 250 superdream engine would this be enough power?

What is a SuperDream? Never heard of that.

The answer to the rest might depend in part on where you live and what is available. There is hope because after all, we have members all over the world who are building cars with used parts.

If you are a scrapper and inventive, you can utilize the most obscure stuff. In the US many of us have access to nicely made but expensive parts. Unfortunately not everyone does and so they find or make their own stuff.

The answer is often in the projects section but it takes time. Reading first will help you wrap your brain around the project.

a superdream is a kind of honda 250 bike and im from the uk u hot any ideas of where to get an axle for a sidey round here?

Good luck with the build, my only piece of advice would be think of 'power to weight' & how well it will drive ( or steers).

I know this for sure if you don't do it right the first time it will cost you more, but who cares it's fun either way enjoy your build:D

If you look at the plans, it calls for standard "trailer hubs" in the bolt pattern of your desired wheels. First you have to pick out your wheels and that determines your bolt pattern for your hubs. I'm going with a 5x4.5" bolt pattern for my ATV rims off Amazon. I went to 'etrailer.net' and looked at utility trailer hubs with disc brake rotors and internal bearings. I'm getting the 3500 axle hubs because the spindle that fits them is beefy AND it has a grease zert on the tip so you can grease the wheels without taking the hubs off. So the spindle and hubs must match also just so you know. If you're going to be rough on the front end, then I'd suggest going with the heavier hubs (3,500 lb version) as well. You don't want to be breaking your spindle off roading somewhere with no tow truck. The rear hubs I'm just getting standard 3,500 lb hubs w/o disc rotors cause I'm going with the Edge rotor. I may change my mind when I talk to the local hot rod shop about it though. Not sure how I can do that with a live axle. One step at a time though for today.

If you don't want to buy online, for local support for parts later on, just go to the local trailer retailer or local manufacturer and see where they get their parts locally. That way you can get bearings locally when you need them.
