CrazyOldMan Fire Footage (http://www.southeastsxs.com/utv-sxs-videos/1003-crazyoldman-fire-footage.html)

From Last Rally raid race at Durhamtown plantation.

Appears driver was not injured.

Guess a fire suit and a on board fire extinguisher is not a bad idea.

I prefer to heat treat my parts prior to assembly, but that's just me...........

The shit of it all is that if it would have caught on fire about 20-30 minutes later, the rain came down so hard that it may have saved his machine. I was talking with him about an hour before the start of the race. He was answering questions and offering advice to me for my build. Real nice guy too.

I guess that shows all of us to mount an extinguisher to the roll cage. That really sucks man, the buggy can be rebuilt not the driver

And a mechanical main fuel shut off(and battery shutoff) in reach of the driver while harnessed. If you lose the contol wires to the fuel pump but not power, you will have a hard time putting it out anyway.Mandatory in micro sprint racing in NJ.

Summit has a remote extiguisher system that I may install on my rig. The base model is like $350 and the delusx is around $600. I think it is money well spent especially when you are ount in the middle of a race course where a water truck can't get to you. I will also be using a Polymer tank. His setup had a 7 gallon alluminum tank right on top of the engine.
