Hi Everyone,

Is there any kind of buggy racing in northeast Ohio ? I would like to take my grandsons for a road trip. They like to watch racing on tv. I think it is time to show them grass roots racing.

Thanks,
Al

Nothing that I know of in NE Ohio. But you could come over to the NOORA races in PA it's only about 2 hours away.

minibajaman,

Where is West Sunbury located ? Is there weekend camping ?

I found West Sunbury. Not to far from Slippery Rock, Pa.

Do they have camping for the weekend ?

I don't know if you can camp at the track, you'd have to ask Gary about that. I can't recall seeing anyone doing that before. There is camping nearby at/around Moraine State Park.

I really hope to see a series of buggy racing come to NE Ohio in the near future! Just recently purchasing a 160 acres with a drag strip( Quaker City in Salem, Ohio) we could "potentially" be able to put in a course for buggies/utv's/ atv's, given that there would be a decent turn out. I really wish there were more buggy people in Ohio.

minibajaman,

Are the races one or two day event ? How many different classes do they have ? Do they have any mini buggies running ?

Thanks,
Al

One day event. Racing starts around noon on Saturday, and wraps up around 3pm.

There are probably 10 classes, condensed into 3 - 5 groups (depending on turnout) that race. Each group has a practice session and two race heats.
Typical groups are:
1 - VW style buggies - woods buggies
2 - Super buggies - liquid cooled engines, high performance
3 - Rally cars - basically junker street cars
4 - Trucks
5 - Mini buggies

There are almost always mini buggies there, but in the past two years it has only been two brothers with Honda Pilots, occasionally myself, and once odypilots (forum member here) who race.

Here is a video from the first race I went to there two years ago:

minibajaman,

Thanks for posting your video. It looks like fun. I will try to get to a race or two. The grandsons will love it.

Thanks again,
Al
