View Full Version : Another painful lesson on video

I did this on about the 4th day of riding the same areas, after a night of very high winds that changed the shape of the dune I flew off of. I went about 120 ft (measured)before the first impact in the sand, which was on the back of the rollcage. I then rolled about a dozen times end over end. I finally landed back on my wheels 275ft down on the desert floor. I then fired the engine back up and rode off. I do not remember the roll, only waking up parked back up at the top with a freind taking pictures of the impacts in the sand. Spooky. Damage was very minimal to the Honda Odyssey, well built machines. I did this in Feb 07. Gary

Had a front and rear camera mounted so dual views.

Good demonstration of how condtions change. could be an hour or overnight. Now, do you ALWAYS approach a crest at an angle to establish what is there before hitting it at speed?

Thanks for the video. It is a very good lesson.

You also chopped the throttle right before the lip. That will automatically start you into an endo if your wheels leave the ground. BTDT many times.

Glad you are OK. Cool videos though. :D

Wow, cool vid. Any lesson you can learn AND walk away from is a good one. Any idea how fast you were going? It seems like about 1 to 1.5 seconds of hang time. You must have been doing 60-80 mph to get that kind of distance. Crazy!

Never driven an Oddy, but I sure respect them a whole lot more. I'm a believer in roll cages since my roll over in a truck. I don't think I'd want an in car of mine....flashbacks:eek:
