This year was the 3rd annual So. Cal. Buggy Bash and Pepper and my first time to make it. We almost did last year but a race was to close so we had to pass.
This year with work and all it was tough again but we had to do it and go see for ourselves just how fun the buggy bash is.

First off it is for minis and side by sides mostly so as my mini is not done I did not care and took Kitt our race car and said were going and off we went.

We arrived Friday night and the circle was already pretty big atleast the size of friends I meet at the races. The next morning another half dozen people arrived just in time for the day ride.

The cool things I have heard about going to the buggy bash is about the rides.
See on the rides you go to look for unique land marks.. oh say a pottie, a phone booth, water fall and a bridge out of rock you drive under!
Not your normal land marks but pretty cool.

Well we all lined up for a quick photo of all who was going.. and several people did not and actually rode around camp as this ride is about 6 to upwards of an 8 on a scale of 1-10.. now you can sit out the 8 part and wait below on some of the hill climbs etc or go around the bridge etc. But a 6 on difficult is still impressive.. especially for all the small buggies and of course our race car to go on.
But we did an off we went.
Pic of the group. Left shot of half and right shot of other half.

This was really good we had a drivers meeting to talk to everyone and let people know some basics safety rules, help, who had raidios, how difficult this ride would be and to find out skills of the drivers etc. Very smart and well done.

I will just put in some random riding pics to just show riding spots and things we went through insted of trying to explain everything.
The big thing I will note is our buggy is so wide in spots I had to let my tires ride up on the banks of the walls to squeeze through and Pepper and I out loud even said no way are we fitting through that.. but with a little luck and driving we did. ;)
After doing all we did in Kitt we will never call her a big car again. :D

Radom riding shots taken by Pepper while driving mostly.. ha ha.

http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL169/1054762/22741758/378412749.jpg

some very steep drop offs and hill climbs you can barely see the ranger going down in front of us.. look close.

One tie rod was the only breakage we had all day. A hammer, crescent and a bolt and Peter was back up and going. that is impressive for what we went through and how rough some stuff could be. Awesome!

As you can see in this driving photo Pepper and I had a blast

Here is a shot of the phone booth.. although someone stole the phone and left an empty beer can!!! that sucked.

This is about a level 8 hill climb and that does not count how much more difficult it is in a mini buggy! But plenty of people went up and made it. Ya we had to take Kitt up too.
Look at the height we are at looking down from the phone booth.

This little valley indeed up being pretty tough as the mountain side fell into the valley blocking us and we had to go over the rocks.. it was pretty tough and a couple of us had to get help being pushed over as we would ride over and just stick on the rock as it was so big it just blocked us.. and we have 31 inch tires and could not drive over it.
Photos never show justice but it was big.

Yep even jeeps hit.

Ok here is a great but very difficult drive especially in a car our size the bridge.
It is a dirt bridge and you drive through a very tight valley I will post video soon of it.
But here is a pic or two of us going through it.

It was at truck heaven or haven in cali. It's just one of the bash's put on by and large by china buggy owners or guy's that got started with china buggies. The big bash or national bash is at st joes st.park every year. Close to 80 buggies from 40 states this year at the national. They just had a north east bash in Pa. And a south North bash in Ky. Then another coming up in Tn in march. And were working on one in Va.

Drive by.. ha ha.
Well next time come ride another guy had his predator too.

The area is in Ca. down by Salton Sea before you get to Ocotillo actually.
Just off the 86. It is by houses, stores and casino.. seriously you can see homes etc. and park close to the road like a mile in. Everything was great, weather, friends and riding like I have never done before.
Can't wait to get my mini done for next years bash now! So excited.
The canyons are a blast and the desert is well desert riding so you can go play and open it up all you want if you get tired of the canyons. Like you ever would. ha ha. :D

Fl250driver thanks for the links I will go check those out.

That is the area. If you go a couple of miles south pass the casino. To the first small housing tract. Then turn west and follow that road for about a mile and it drops you off in the desert. You can take off from there and ride all directions.
