Got my mill work done on the bushing and bungsAttachment 25342 and finished the lathe notching tool . Some 9" 1 1/2 angle and 3/4 x3/4 bar and
cut some 3/4 " peices out of the 1 1/2 angle and here's what I came up with . The hold downs can be slid the full length of the angle for clamping longer or shoter pieces .Tryied with a piece of srap and it works just greatAttachment 25343Attachment 25344Attachment 25345and a finished notchAttachment 25346
Looks like a arms are next

I use a similar setup only I prefer the mill with a custom vice I built. I use a roughing bit and feed directly to the side.

I have set shims for the clamps so different size tubing is always centered.....

Don't know fatal next time I'm talking with Rick I'll ask him. I do Know that Daaboots has a set of plans but I don't think he's started yet. I'm slowly getting one of the lower arms ready to tack up. I do have the upper front arms tacked up but I'm still waiting for a 5/8 LH tap to finish them up. I never seen any of the edge plans but these plans from Rick are fricken amazing, very detailed but easy to follow.

Got a start on the bottom a arms I now have one tacked up and the other one almost ready to go on the jig. I will say that I have followed Rick's build Glock's and the build from KY on here and the pictures were all great but to have this thing sitting up on the table the pics I've seen do it no justice . These AR51's are a frickin piece of art work I'm total amazedAttachment 25376

I am almost completely done with my main chassis, but I still have to weld up the uprights and make the motor mounts. It is nice to use Rick's plans and end up with parts that fit together perfectly.

    Sodman, Youshi,

Thanks for posting your method of notching tubing. I have done mine with a HF cheepie, and now a Bridgport. But now I know two more ways of getting the job done.

I gotta hand it to Rick, the AR51 is a really nice design.
