Default New Guy From Iowa

I suppose it's about time I introduce myself. My name is Mike and I have been spending anywhere from 4 to 8 hours a night reading posts here for the last week or so. I am 24 and very proficient at welding, machining, fabrication, and design. I also memorized g code when I was in 8th grade and wrote code by hand from graph paper drawings. I am a certified welder and own basic equipment, mig, tig, stick, plas, drill press. I draw things up in autocad knowing I don't have equipment to produce the parts, but it is fun just the same. My first buggy was done cheap and fast, $1500 and two months, and in now way represents what I am capable of. In highschool I built a mileage vehicle for competition, and one the VICA state welding contest three out of four years. I then went to CC and won once, and placed second the next year. After that, welder/fabricator for 3.5 years. Now I am unemployed by choice and getting ready to move to Mn. Anyways, some day I hope to open a small shop to work on my toys and maybe make enough money to keep the lights on. I really enjoy designing things and feel that I am severly limited by lack of proper equipment. I guess I am an optimistic type of guy because I assume everything will work untill I can prove otherwise. My mind is open to all ideas and processes. I hope this explains some of my future posts. I've found it's easier to aquire information by playing dumb and pretending you don't understand at all, so please be kind. That's enough rambling for now. Did I mention I am an insomniac? My mind just keeps on going.
