Anyone see an issue with running one of these Clockwise? Thinking of rotating one 180 degrees and mating directly to the engine's output shaft to use as a 5 spd. w/reverse transfercase for my AWD build. Any thoughts? Oiling issues?

It has been done many times with the mini monster trucks. They use the Honda motor though. The main problem is overall gearing. By the time it goes through the diff in the tranny and through your axles you either need 40" tires or a 2-1 ratio in the axles.

Being its designed to take rotation in one direction flipping it may or may not cause issues. I know the old Covairs were reverse rotation engines and when a normal rotation engine (like a small block chevy) was connected they would bust out the case and many said it was due to that side of the case was not built to handle the helical gears pushing on it. Being you wish to feed a tranny directly why not look at a VW front drive tranny? They are on par with Honda quality and shift great. They also face the opposite direction so they would be going the right rotation for a bike motor being fed directly (Given you donor bikes output sprocket is on the left side) Its almost a gimme. Plus they have CV flanges for german CV's already on them so if the driveshafts were the same size Cv driveshafts out of a Ford Ranger (or the like) could be made to your length as many of them used CV's instead of U-joints.) With a little salvage yard shopping you might find some shafts that fit with only a shortening job. I ahve not measured them so you would have to check but Ford went on a German CV rampage use for a good while. Yah might get lucky!

Nice. Any particular make/model/year of VW's I should look for at the yard? Or will any work? I would also need to have the diff welded or spooled. Is this possible with these transmissions? Thanks for the advice.

Any front drive 4 cylinder VW tranny.
The older ones from the mid eighties had type 1 CV flanges coming off them. Later years used larger and larger as the years went by so comparing years might help you find the flange you want. The earliest ones with type 1 flanges were really close to the cse so a bigger flange would be tough. The later ones already got them. Size varies with year and the sport modles I have been told had the largest ones. A SI car (Sport inspired) has a tranny with close ratio gears too. Keep that in mind if it suits you.
