New to the Rail thing. . . bought a used Tom Pro end of the year 2006. *Still learning to drive it. *

I'm no FAB'r.
Can do minor mechanical work - comparing myself to the rest of the guys on the forum, I'm a Virgin! *

Sand Mt., NV is my homefield. *A little small but, it is the closest to me. . . 4.5 hours away. *
We are good for a summer trip to St. Anthony or Oregon and a Winter trip to Glamis (of course ). *

Lovin' this rail. . . last weekend at Sand Mt. I got some looks from a few Drag Shee's that left the line first and at the top of the hill looked over and found me next to them. . . what an awesome feeling. . . my passenger liked it too *

Normally I'm not this cocky. . . just had a great trip! *

Still like riding quads. *My Daughter, Wife and I still have our quads that go on every trip. *The rail is just another toy at this point. *

The forum has been great. *Lots of smart folks on here eager to help out. *Thanks.

I guess i never formally introduced myself either.Hi, i'm jeff aka (ultraman) aka (pumpkinpilot) from iowa.I probably live in the worst state for mini's.No sanctioned racing(that im aware of).No state parks that allow them either.But i drooled * (spec Style) over the pilots,drakarts,sandbullets,short cars,and every other mini on the web.I've had my share of fast bike's and car's ,and several atv's,but something about the mini buggy's just *took ahold.I've never been a racer, but when i slide down in that seat,buckle into that harness,and mash the accelerator,i can imagine i'm k-fab in a whiplash race [smilie=rockout3.gif] .I could'nt afford any of the aforementioned machines , and could'nt build one without direction,so i bought plans.Anyway i figure if i hang around here long enough maybe i can learn ALOT from the fabing brilliance i see on this site.Also make some friends along the way [smilie=ext_beer2.gif] .

Well I guess I never really introduced myself.
I have been a welder for a long time mig and tig a lot of aluminum then went to work for a company called Agco started out welding then went to a different department and got into machining parts on CNC lathes after 9 years the company closed and moved to Kansas.
So I went to school for computers and became a computer technician and Microsoft certified worked in that field for a couple of years I hated it.
So I went back to welding I now work for a company where we do a lot of ASME and pressure vessel welding I have also got my x-ray level 1 tech cert.
We use live x-ray I can shoot through up to 1/2 “inch thick steel we have to x-ray most of are welds for DOT. Specs.
So anyway my family has been into riding 4 wheelers for awhile they had a go-cart when they were younger it was a yearf dog they drove it into the ground they took it every where.
Me and my son were talking about how much fun they had on it on the way to get parts for his traxxas RC truck (hit a concrete wall at 35 mph ouch.) and a friend of ours had just brought a china made cart on the first ride the reverse went out the lights quit working and it started making a popping sound going forward.
So I told him I could build one better I had an idea in my mind of independent suspension so I started looking on the internet for plans and came up with the panther I had never built anything like this before and did not know at the time sites like this were around.
I have loved building the buggy and can’t wait to get it done.

HI All,
I am new to the site, but old to the mini buggy world. This is a great site with lots of great ideas. Thank you for creating this great exchange of ideas.

To introduce myself to the board:
The first ride I took in a real mini buggy was in 1985 with Vince Laporte. He built a suzuki 750cc powered two seater that would go up anything. On my first trip to Dumont he declared the standard of driving I avoid to this day "If you dont flip it at least once per day you are just not driving aggressively enough."

Since then I have owned several minis including:
Drakart, Short Sand Car, 3 different XTCs, and "ho" made. The power plants have varied from the 750cc suzuki to the mighty Hayabusa. My favorite sand dunes are in St Anthony Idaho, specifically Choke Cherry Hill, 700' straight up.

This obsession is a reflection of my "vehicular promiscuity" problem that I have had since youth. I had bought and sold 21 cars by the time I was 21 years old. The best among those were a 1968 Corvette convertible and a 1972 Jaguar XKE V 12 2+2. Now I am 50 and my wife is glad that I limit my promiscuity to cars. *Every 2 years I get a different buggy.

I have a desk job, with lots of paperwork and meetings, so fabricating and wrenching is genuine pleasure for me, even though my skills, tools and garage space are limited. I have always followed the Hachey rule of precision engineering - "measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax".
