Default New guy falling into the a blackhole of DIY hobbies

Hey guys,

/begin intro

Well I was out camping with my friends and we decided to do something new, we rented scooters, and boy was that fun. Then it occurred to, why not make something that goes off-road on any of the ATV trails here in the Canadian Rockies??? So now 2 weeks later here I am looking at mini buggies (I hope I have the terminology right). I am considered to be a n00b at this hobby and I have no experience what so ever in driving them or let alone all the knowledge that goes into building and driving one of these.

I am a university student currently transitioning from 1st year Comp-Sci to Mech-Eng and live in Calgary AB. I have access (30 mins away) to off-road trails and winter fun and any building materials I need.

/end intro...

Welcome from another Canadian
Its sort of like being drawn to the light instead of being sucked into a blackhole.

See if your school has an SAE Baja program. Search this site for details on what that's about.

Welcome to MBN!
