Default rear end using 930 CVs

I want some advised on this rear end idea and where is a good place to buy parts.
I am going to be building a R1 Rhino and am going to use 930 CVs.
I want to use the stock rear hubs. So I was going to take the stock CVs and cut the splined end off and weld them onto some 930 cups.
I was then going to take a carrier off my banshee chassis (chain driven) and cut the axle and bolt on the 930 cups to that. Then I can make custom length axles.
What do you all think? I may not have explained it correctly lol.
Also where do you think the best place to buy parts for CVs is?
Thanks

A recent Sand Addiction or Sand Sports has an article about a home made Hayabusa where the owner used a quad center section in much the same way. I'll look for it for some details.

IMO this is the most stressed component in the car. It might be worthwhile to buy a complete setup from Gear One or Yoshi.

I don't know if 930's at the stock wheel are going to work with the stock hub modification. This might be a good question for Chophop since he built a similar car. His Rgino was in SA or SS recently.

I have a carrier I have been selling for $899 that is setup like a quad. It's eccentric so you twist the center to tighten the chain. I'm currently prototyping a new center carrier I will be selling much cheaper. It will not be eccentric, but will have a set of plates mounted to it which will allow the whole unit to piviot to tighten the chain.

I'm doing it because i'm already prototyping my own micro stub axles to switch to cv's for my rails. The micro stub axle will be about 6.5" long, and it's really not much more work to just offer a center carrier built out of the same material and with the same bearings as the bearing carriers we currently build. The center carrier will be approximately 6.5" wide from flange to flange and setup for 930 cv's. Not sure on cost yet but I can set it up for a single disk brake as well.........

The only problem with that I see is you will have the use a large sproket in the rear if you don't use a reduction box like RPM ect.ect. The back of the rhinos don't have all that much room.

What did you do to tension the chain on your RPM reverse box?

I've got a cv question. My 930's leak grease out EVERYWHERE! Anyone know why? I've come up with a couple theories. (1) I'm using some green marine grease and maybe it's getting to hot and leaking out. (2) I packed them with a lot of grease, maybe too much? (3) Possible too much angle for the cvs causing them to get hot and leak grease out but i dont' think that's it because i still have plenty of play in the axles at full droop. Anyways Help I'm sick of cleaning this thing! lol

Probably too much grease. Use a good CV grease with high temperature properties and don't use too much. I've been too generous too and it sucks.
