Default Cheap shock options

I know its the million dollar question. What options are there for a less expensive coil over? I know, King, FOA, Fox. We're trying to get bugs old car basiclly just rolling, so my brother can make some decisions on which direction to take it. But he's never had any seat time, and I want to get him a "starter" set of shocks if you will. No sense is crushing 1000 fox shocks right off the bat.

What are the edge or panther guys running? Wasn't there a cheap napa shock guys were running? Eventually, we're going to get him into a FOA coilover or something like that. Basiclly looking to spend a couple hundred on something in the mean time so we can get the motor in and test it out in the fields etc. And quad shocks are too small for bugs frame. My civic is smaller *

what length were the fox's he had on there? I can't remember but if they were 25 to 27" long you could go to a stock car coil-over

Your best bet is fox airs. *They fit, they'll work and they're very easy to tune and make do what you want them too. *For the type of terrain (the trails in MI and Silver Lake) they'll be your best bet. * Spend a bit more coin up front on something like shocks. *They are what allows the power to be put to the ground, the car to handle and suck up big ugly hits. *Going cheap on this is a lesson in futility.

I believe the Fox Airs can be found in the neighborhood of $200/each.

Take travel, times two, add 7, for fox shocks, that's how i remember. A twelve inch shock is pretty close to 31 inches eye to eye extended. A 8.5 is close to 24 extended.

Get the fox's, you'll be regretting it if you buy a really cheap auto shock. The FOA's look good, but if you get the wrong springs, it'll cost you.
