Default Full Hydraulic Steering?

Hello all!

Does any of you guys use full hydraulic steering on your rigs? If so, where do you bye your hardwear? And how do you drive the pump? I have an 05 busa, so if any of you have any pics of a pump mounted on this engine it whould be great!

Cheers Tom

I ran it on one rail, worked great but was uber expensive and was a lot of work. i'm using the electric steering now, a lot cheaper and easier to instal..

bdkw1 : I was thinking about the 'Full hyrdo as in ram and servo only'.

yoshi : Thanks for the pics. How did you mount the pully on the engine side?

How much power does the electric power steering give? I'm running 4wd on my rig and I guess that will need a lot more power to turn then the pure steering tyres that you use?

Thanks, Tom!

custom built billet aluminum, cover that has a pulley attaching to the crank.

Not sure on the power of the electric steering, but i've heard really good thing about this system, and don't think a 4x4 setup would cause it any issues.

My brother's V8 pulling tractor is fully hydraulic steering with hoses only going from the column to a cylinder at the wheels. Since the steering wheel is about a foot behind the distributor, it is difficult to run shafts. The steering is off a commercial lawn mower. He had another one from a fork lift and one from a boat that did not provide the ratio he wanted. It leaks a little internally so it is good he used a splined quick disconnect on the wheel. The wheel ends up needing to be turned a spline or two after each time he drives it.

PSC makes most of what you would need for a full hydro system. Full Hydraulic Steering : PSC Motorsports, Off-Road Steering Experts

For the pump drive off the motor you will need something like Yoshi had.

I have been running EPS for a decent amount of time now. Probably 2 to 3 thousand hard miles on a desert car. I like it. I would not use it on a 4wd buggy that will be used like a rock crawler. Full hydro in a light car like that is probably overkill. Now if you are gonna use it like a SXS or something like that it should be fine. (they already have kits for them)
