Yes, please break out Paint and draw what you're trying to explain.

I think I follow, but I'm not quite sure.

For the main heim (rod end) - lower arm/mounting point for the spindle - a 3/4" size should work.

typically the upper joint sees much less force than the lower. Depending on the geometry it could be less than half. Also having the lower bolt horizontal loads the lower spehrical radially (strong) instead of axially (weak) there are axial loads on the lower but I think the radial load is much higher. Then on the upper joint there are really only cornering and brakeing forces. the cornering forces will not matter as far as your orientation of the spehrical but with the bolt being vertical on the upper rod end it will transfer the brakeing forces to your rod end radially instead of axially, which is good. basically I think your design is pretty efficient. Dont hang the single shear upper joint way out, the closer you can get it to the structural part of your spindle the better, and make sure your lower joint can take your steering angle without binding.

a simple way too is to get some yamaha spindle off a four wheeler cheap and proven designs and they hold up really well, unless you just want to make them for the sake of saying i did that. thats cool too.

Simple way is to cad up some boxed uprights and have them waterjet and weld them together....
