Started working on the buggy again for about a week now I started the back end of the chassi and fabrication of the front a arms.Got most of the bushings and tubes needed for the front a arms done. I couldn't find any of the rectangular tube needed for the a arms so i decided to make it using two pieces of angle bar welded together. I don't have a tubing bender i'm just cutting the angles and welding the tubes together. Also got a big new drill press.

IMO, I think you are good with those. Just use a hi-mis spacer and you will have a 1/2" bolt going through the assembly. Maybe use 3/4" heim joints out at the upright connection and use the 5/8" joints at the chassis connection.

I'm using bushings at the buggy end of the suspension as that's what the plan called for. Thanks for the info.

Doesn't look like any surface prep was done. All welded areas need to be taken down to bare metal before you start sticking them together.

A sander or even better one of the 525 Industries tube prep tools does a fantastic job. You have to get down past the protective coating on the tubing.

Ya I had to paint the chassi when i stopped working on it as it had to be stored outside for a while. The welds are just tacks. I use a wire brush on an angle grinder to sand it down before welding. Its a pain in the ass but has to be done

I've always been a fan of how the back of those cars look. I agree with the above. Wire wheel those joints for sure. Oh yeah, hold on tight to that grinder with a wheel. LOL Been there.
