does the rectangular tubing hold up well?

contact Rick S the piranha buggies are mostly square and seem to be very simple to build, there is two pieces of tubing i believe that are bent, he could likely supply them 2 pieces for you, and a whole lot of the other parts that are simpler to laser/waterjet etc, If i was gonna build a first buggy, it would surely be the piranha, very good machine to hone your skills on i believe...

Thats awesome man! Thanks for the pictures. Now you'll have to get some videos of it running!

Any idea of the overall weight of the buggy?

ok those are the same bushings i used for the ends of my rear hub brackets. i got mine from bomgaars and they were $2.75 each. ace-tractor supply- bomgaars. almost any hardware shop will carry a variety of them.

Updated rear suspension, the coil over shocks just didn't have enough travel or ajustment in them. I thought about going with Fox air shocks but just don't have the money at the time to buy them. I went to the autoparts store and bought a set of Gabriel hi-jackers for a Ford Ranger with the idea that if they didn't work I would use them on my pickup. I was pleasently supprised to find out when I aired them up that they have 8.75 inches of travel and are adjustable to 200lbs. of presure. I also learned that you have to mount them with individual air circuits or you have a very nasty tendancy to transfer all the load to one wheel in a cornering situation. (one goes up the other goes down) I found that 85lbs gives me 11" of ride hieght loaded and is soft enough not to require a kedney belt. Best part $75.00 complete kit.

Pvanheck if you find you want to change the effect the air in the shock has you can alter it some. (Tough to do a lot due to the small feed hole in the shock but still effects it) Put a air reservoir for each shock somewhere. The more volume the softer it will act as it has more air to compress. You can expierment with a couple sizes to see if it effect the way it rides to you liking. Once you know if one is to your liking you can fab up a pretty one or a hidden unit.
