I was out in the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Saturday and met Jay1823 and greasemnkey and his brother Suicidaltendacies and a couple of thier other friends. Was good to meet some MBN'ers and hopefulley next spring we can have a buggy meet there and all go riding in things we built.

But the other reason I am posting here in THIS thread is I saw this rail being driven around (The one this thread is originally about. Heck its there nearly every weekend) as the owner is trying to sell it.

He was showing it to prospective buyers and had already given the wife a ride then was taking the husband for a ride. He was making a run at test hill and just started to lay into it and bang! The rear tires locked up and skidded for over 50 feet. Turns out the chain in side the tranny seemed to let go. It wedged in between the pulley and the case and actualy buckled the front of the case out enough it was leaking oil. They had to remove both rear driveshafts and tug it out. He was down from around $36.000 when he started to about $30,000 by that day. He told the guy looking at it he would go $25.000 with the busted case. I aint sure if he was joking but he sounded serious.

By the way I had thought this had a Jeffco in it but I was mistaken. Its a Tompro rail and the tranny is Tompros as well. So I owe an apology on that.

Did you get a good look at the chain? I'm curious what type it was.

No it did not escape the case. It just bulged it out enough to be able to see the bulge easily and it wedged the seal enough to make it leak.
