Spell out a little of what you thought was "ruff" The rear trailing arms have a brace added to them that needs finished and painted but other than that it was pretty nice for a car you are gonna drive (I aint one for to much extra "blitz" I would rather it run hard first. Look pretty 3rd. 2nd is be reliable as death and taxes. Other than time which they tolds me was a good amount they told me thier figured cost for that machine (other than hours into it) was under $7000.00 That aint bad at all. How often do you get to Silver Lake Stealth?? What do you ride there now? I was there Saturday and Sunday all day for the most part. Dunno about this next weekend yet. Bill

WEnt to silver lake this weekend with some of my ranger buddies (riding shotgun
) Searching for some Bike powered rails. I finally found one sitting. Looks about like i wanted. I asked the guy if I could take some pics of it for my own project. AS I looked it over I remember the pics on here He offred me a ride and I could not refuse. As we took off I look at the speedo and we where going 115MPH over the woops, but later found out it was more around 70MPH. Which is flying to me since I am used to trucks. WE did jump it a small bit, landed nose first once lol. Ate sand a little. IT was a awesome ride though. Only thing I am not sure of it why there is so little down travel? Is that what mini rails should be like? BTW if this guy gets on this site thanks again!!! Last edited by ffjosh; 08-25-2008 at 03:04 AM. |

He is refferring to the pics I posted on page 1 of this thread Bug.
What do you mean by up travel Josh? It rides in the middle of its travel to give it droop. You could jack it up to ride higher but then it looses droop and becomes tippier as it gets taller. Is that what you are refferring to with "up travel"? Bill

I guess I should point out that it rode more in the mid travel with me onboard as I tip the scales at 280. (I am nearly 6 foot 2 and not so much a lard ass as just big. Not that I would mind loosing a few pounds) When he was driving it with his buddy one weekend and a girl another it sat higher but I do believe I am double either of thier weights. :] Bill

I ment Down travel lol. I edited my post above. I never looked at it after we got it. It might have leveled out. WHen it was sitting there with no one in it, the limit strap was almost tight.

Setting up shocks is an art form. The owner admitted they were decent but he had a bit more tuning to do to them when he got around to it. With no weight it simply rises. With a two seater you take into account it could have a single 120 pound driver or two 250 pound people onboard. Big differance so you compromise some so it can deal with either.
Pure race cars will have a special setup just for the driver exact weight. Quads are the same. They have to be able to handle the broad range of human weight that might climb aboard. Hard to do with springs. Have a perfect fits all. (Plus rails that sit high look cooler..... (Even if it does hamper thier handling IF they have no droop dialed in.) Somepeople do not like the high sitting look but many do. Long travel "looks $$$" Its a plus if it functions really good. Imagine figuring out a five seater monster rail. lol Funco uses airbags so you can adjust the height.

I have done quad suspension (still dont get it half the time) tunning and it can be a PITA ( I used to race) The best way I have figured out is to just ride it and adjust until you like it.
I have to admit that thing handled great, the rear seemed to buck sometimes over the woops. BUt when you hit a wash out at 70MPH in a 900lb car something has to move |

I agree it handled the whoops at speed very well. With a little time into the shocks I am betting they can get it even better. I flat out told them I would buy the plans for that rail on the spot if they had them. I am doubting it but would like it if they drew them up and offered.
