I bet he cant even tell, if you notice the ass of that motorhome its hooked to...

You need to look at how airflows over the back of a MH.Everything that goes over it spills down almost immediately right to about where the quad tires are. Doesn't matter tho.All that's important is that he got to the dunes/desert.

Such humble beginnings. Sad really. In some states you could make a double trailer out of it and it would be nicely balanced. Perhaps that happened later . . .

You want aero drag? The last buggy trailer I built had a 4X8 sheet of expanded metal on the ramp that was vertical when closed. Never really noticed it behind the motor home, but put it behind a Toyota and it would barely hit 60! The new owner cut it in half and put a hinge in the middle. Says it tows much easier now. On the upside though, with that parachute behind it, the trailer was dead stable no matter what.

I believe that you can do the same in oregon. You often see people hauling a trailer and then another toy hooked to that trailer. My uncle is thinking about it for when we go to sand lake, to hook his off-road blazer to the back of the camper, once we cross into oregon.

The turning thing reminds me of a diesel truck that pulled into our ranch to top off the diesel tanks for the hop dryers. It took him at least 50 attempts, and he jack knifed it most of the time. It was funny to see those huge tires scraping sideways on the road, lol. It wasn't a double trailer, but the trailer had a pivoting set of wheels under the front.

there is usually a pin on there activated by air to lock them from turning....

Guy said he prefers the set up as the typical skis in front of boat requires everything to be on the trailer all the time for proper weight distribution.

Really? Tubes cause more drag than panels? Makes sense, just would have never guessed. Anybody have any additional experience with aero drag on buggies? Might be an interesting new thread.
It makes a huge difference. I pulled a 24 foot enclosed trailer (v nose) to the dunes with 2 rails in it, the thing towed awesome, I towed my tall ass rail to the dunes on a16 foot open trailer and noticed more resistance than the 24 foot enclosed. It was also harder to tow a 16 foot enclosed flat nose trailer with one rail, than a 24 footer with a v nose.

I'm building a 34 foot enclosed toy hauler, it was 28 foot long but I added 6 foot and stuck a big V nose on the front, thanks to the experience I gained towing both flat, and v nose.

Aero dynamics plays a huge roll in towing, there is a topic started in here about it, and I have done lot of research on the subject since it was started, especially with the price of gas, and I learned some stuff I didn't know. One thing i'm thinking about doing is building something called a boat tail, as before the topic was started, I didn't know much about resistance caused by the back of the trailer.
