Shoot that ain't to redneck.
I'm getting a camp trailer for free and I'm going to attempt to cut off the back to make it in to a redneck toyhauler. I be sure to post pics so you guys will have something to laugh at.

Gene, to answer you question it takes about 5 minutes to put on after the front buggy, 6 bolts and the tie downs hold it in place.
I used big eye bolts in the front to hold it to the side lip of the trailer and tied the bottoms of the ramps in the same way with bolts, the straps hook to the front suspension of the buggy and down to the eyes and the ramps keep it from moving forward. It does not move much , alot more solid than I thought it would be. |

I seriously doubt it.When I built my first 24' enclosed I had to tow it about 10 miles to where I skinned it.The skeleton was a HUGE drag.I could only hit about 50-55 mph with out foot to the floor. When skinned it was very easy to pull.I never dreamed how much open tubes drag you down.Something to think about for the bigger buggy guys wishing to add upper speed performance.Add a few pounds of body and yet run faster.

So, out to the lake for the weekly jetski ride and fish fry dinner. What do I see? A redneck boat hauler. Well, clearly high dollar. But, figured you all might like some photos.
The skis lift with the booms. Two booms in case one breaks. The whole upper rack is held in place with receiver hitches so it can be removed pretty easily. Guy said he prefers the set up as the typical skis in front of boat requires everything to be on the trailer all the time for proper weight distribution. Really? Tubes cause more drag than panels? Makes sense, just would have never guessed. Anybody have any additional experience with aero drag on buggies? Might be an interesting new thread. |
