No, spring over axle. At the time I had a lifted truck, so I did it for that. It gives me quite a bit more clearance for dirt roads and such, so I left it. It's my first 5er, but I don't think I'll ever have a tag trailer again ( at least for RVing) It tracks nice, empty or loaded.
