Default Re: I bought a big toy

Yeap, I agree with the 7.3 choice. *I've got a lot of friends that have problems with sensors on their 6.0. *Although, I wish I had their tranny!! *The FIRST thing you should do is gauges!! *I had to have my tranny rebuilt after pulling a trailer up the grade. *The stock gauge is a dummy light! *It just shoots up when it's too late and never gives you an indication that it's getting hot. *When I put my gauges on and pulled my 30' WW up a hill, I couldn't believe how hot it got. *

So the SECOND thing you should do is the tranny cooler! * After putting the cooler on I haven't had any overheating issues and the gauge lets me know where I'm at. *It's also telling me I need to get a better exhaust....I can easily hit 1,200 degrees on the exhaust and still have throttle left. *After the exhaust, I want a DP Tuner, the BEST tuner for the 7.3 (spent many hours looking into this). *Gauges can be installed yourself if your semi handy.

Fed, that's a nice looking rig! *Got to get hot in that AZ sun though [smilie=big_explode.gif]

Thanks King!

The limo tint means everything in this Arizona sun. It helps tremendously.

I agree with the tranny gauge and I would also have to say that a deep tranny pan helps alot too. If you get a free flowing exhaust system (mine is straight piped), your boost temps stay cooler. I know alot of older guys don't like all the turbo whistle and drone, but I love it.

I'll upload a sound clip sometime, it's nasty.
