Default Not a buggy, but my Busa powered project

Hi guys, I quietly check this forum all of the time to aquire information for my latest project, Smartbusa. It is a 2008 Smart car with a 2005 Hayabusa engine transplant and a Quaffie diff. It isn't finished yet but it is really close, just waiting for some pieces to come in. I am an automotive fabricator by trade and I also own a company that manufactures aftermarket parts for the Smart Car. I am doing this project for a customer and plan on using the car as a prototype for a kit to sell to others to do this conversion.
My name is Matt Boesch, I live in Waterford, MI. If anyone ever needs any fab work done I can be reached at matthewboesch@boeschbuilt.com

P.S. I am going to build a buggy one of these days!

Here are some pics:

Yoshi has the same deal in the works. Busa and welded driveline don't go together,IMO, But hey, It may work very well... Looks like superb craftsmanship..

Welcome to MBN! Nice work and looking forward to seeing a video of it run. How many miles on it so far and approximately how much to convert a Smart car? (DYI or you do it)

Hi guys.
I had too get the gearbox from the U.K. It cost 3,200 shipped to me. Expensive, I know, but it is small (I am real tight on space) has limited slip, reverse, and they assured me it would take the power.

No turbo yet, I want to make sure nothing breaks like this first!

I know the welded driveline is a little shakey, I used super missle welding rod which is really strong and v'd it all out, then welded it 3 times. I hope it works out for a while until I can come up with something better.

The kits are 17,500 complete (let the flaming begin!) Complete with everything, frame, motor, diff, gauges, plug in wiring, shifters, pedals, everything.

Not going to flame this. Everything seem sexpensive when I've constructed it in my minds' eye.

This is the only way to give a Smart car an IQ test.
