Default Diirks New Predator X18S

Well, we finally pulled the trigger and got one of the first Predator X18S models. The S means that it can be certified for SCORE, but a fuel cell is required for that. Otherwise, the chassis meats all the SCORE requirements and has already been inspected by Bill Savage. So, pending a fuel cell, it's good to go. The only add-on we got was a rear spare tire carrier. Not sure how much I like it, but at least I can still see out the back and it helps balance out the buggy a little.

Future add-ons will be:

Fuel cell
Rear Lights
Side mirrors. Already have a longacre racing mirror for inside.
Fire Extinguishers
Fresh Air Blower
Radio/Intercom

Only managed a short jaunt in it so far, but it handles the whoops pretty well, and we haven't adjusted anything yet. I'm sure it'll rock once we get the suspension tuned. The only annoying thing to me is that the clutch engages at 1200 RPM, and I'd prefer it closer to 800-1000 rpm. That'll get fixed soon. Hoping to take it out this Saturday for some run-in time and seat time for the wife. The plan is for her to run it in the PowderPuff this October.

Congrats man! I could tell you had been looking at those cars real close. Looks like you plan on doing some racing! What races do you have planned so far?

Initially, the PowderPuff with the wife driving. After that, I may mess with some MORE races and I'd like to try some short course too. Maybe over at Perris.

Congratulations Diirk!

If a racer smashes the rear that tire could be tough to remove from the frame. Nice clear view though!

Yeah, that concerns me too. All we can do is give it a try and see if it works. If not, then we'll throw it on top of the motor and put a big bumper on the back.
