I planted it in my girl friend's head and it stayed with us both pretty much all day.

I think I'll hum a few bars to her real quick before I leave for volley ball this evening!

Always thought it was Wendy - and now I know the real story!

I've learned something today - and as a buddy of mine would say, in response to learning something new, "I'm done for the day!"

Burning Ring of Fire sticks quite well too.

I too remember that song as a lil' bloke Downunder,an also thought all these years(decades) it was Wendy!
Guess they should put out a revamp version and set everyone straight..."Everyone thought it was Wendy!"
Great lookin' car too by the way.

Pretty much everyone I know thought it was Wendy, including me. I even made my wife a mixed tape back in the day, with that song on it, where she thanked me and then proceeded to inform me of my error....Not in a negative way. She actually loves that song, so it worked out well.

And Thanks about the car. It's coming along nicely and we're happy with it so far. Now it's just a matter to see if it can make it through its first race....

Diirk,
Looks pretty sweet. What do you think about the motor/cvt setup? Does it feel like enough power? Im not familiar with the ecotec, im used to R1/Busa power. What things do you wish were better on the stock car. From your experience of owning it would you possibly recommend buying the kit and putting in a subaru or honda motor with different trans? I just keep hearing things about the cvt trans and am looking at alternatives. Right now Yoshis car has my vote and I think im going to start a build with him soon. But I love the look of this car and im considering the x18k and changing the shocks to fox or king and maybe a subaru turbo or something else other than the cvt. I would appreciate any input you have to assist my decision.

Well first off, we'd like to thanks MORE and Damzl for putting on a great race for such a great cause. The entire event was organized well and for our first time, everything went relatively smoothly.

This was not only our first race, but the first race for our car too. A Predator X18S, number 3031. First off the line in the first heat. The driver was Wendy Durkee and co-driver was Shannon Wilson.

They launched off the line like a rocket and were doing well until their CVT belt overheated and shredded near MM4. Much thanks to the guys that towed them off the course to MM4. We headed out to repair the issue, and the girls already had everything apart, so we installed the new belt, and discovered the problem. The CVT cooling fan wasn't on...... We fixed the connection and off they went, unfortunately, 50 minutes behind.

The girls pressed forward, skipping pitting and finished 3 laps, coming in 8th in class. Besides the belt issue, which was totally our fault, the car ran very well. The girls are already looking forward to their next race.

I'm actually a big fan of the Ecotec motor. They're cheap and easy to find. Readily buildable. Has tons of aftermarket support, and can make SERIOUS power! The Ecotec/CVT works very well. More importantly, my wife really likes it. And yes, she can drive a standard transmission very well. But the CVt just makes everything simple. Unlike a standard tranny, if you blow a jump and land under throttle, all you're going to break is a belt, instead of a tranmission.

As for what I'd like to see "better" on the stock car, mainly the little stuff. Better hardware, hoses, fittings, etc. The stock guages are crap. Overall, I really can't complain. We really beat the crap out of the car this weekend and it survived. I really had my doubts that it would finish. The shocks actually work very well, but I'm not so sure about the seals on them. We were loosing pressure in one of the rear shocks, so we kept topping it off. And boy did they run hot.

If you talk to the mfg and tell him that you want to run a standard transmission instead of a CVT, I'm pretty sure he can hook you up. I know he's going to have a version available with Ecotec and Mendi.
