Default Old School

Blackbird 1100xx. Runs very strong needs better suspension. Any ideas?

XTC for sure. Those chassis were not designed very well (suspension wise). Suspension would require a pretty good deal of work and cash to fix it right. The rear end is like an old skool VW swingaxle and quite limited in travel. Easiest thing would be to turn the rear end into a five link I think.

The front will be a bit easier. But plan to replace everything to get decent travel.

I agree with Nutz. If the suspension needs improvement it will take considerable time and money to make it work well.

Not what you want to hear but this is one that you should either accept as-is or sell. Now is the time to unload it and get a ride that meets your requirements.

Oh ya I remember those. I think they are pretty cool.
But limited just like you said. But when you compare them to light weight VW cars etc.
they were way lighter and just as much travel as a VW car. But like stated just like a VW
old swing axle car not a lot of wheel travel.

Change over to some of the plungeing axles like Yoshi uses, longer shocks and change the back arms
to a 5 link like already said is probably the most cost effective way to go.

Or sell and upgrade?

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Hey junkie, I have that engine and I really want to see some nice detail pics of your intake airfilter setup I still have stock box and HATE the way it looks. Anybody else have any input on filter mounts for an injected blackbird motor??

How about shrouding the ugly black box with a nice aluminum cover

See if Speedpartz.com has a filter that will fit.
