From 107 seconds to 140 ish shows obvious breaking the rules. (Wrong way??) (I saw other places where it looked like it was being done as well.) Luckily no one came over the hill but had they ("We were the only ones there" is NO excuse.) I know a lot of people who drive in the parking lot and right into the dunes all the time. From entering the park to the top of test hill is not even two minutes for them.
Had someone came over the hill you would have been liable. Not to mention that if the wrong DNR guy sees this (I know who he is. He don't joke.) he would/will be watching for you. The semi rigs kinda hard to miss.

Nice buggies! Will be nice to have more buggies out there. Nutz is right though, super dangerous screwing around test like that.
We had a DNR agent go the wrong way up the ENTRANCE road last year, and damn near kill jay (he's on here) ended up breaking his arm in the crash. He came around the 90 degree left heading out to the dunes, only to find a DNR suburban bouncing down the road the wrong way with no lights on. And a kid on a quad was air lifted out of there doing exactly whay you guys were doing 2 years ago. Got run over by one of the guys in the big fords. Oh, only ironc thing, the guy nutz is talking about, is the one who ran jays ass over!! We get a little lee way now ![]() Granted, it looked like the lot was empty, so you were probably the only ones out there. We're coming out the weekend after memorial I think. If anyones interested. Possibly 3 maybe 4 buggies, and some pre-runner yota's. |

The directional signs actually start at the BASE of test, not the peak. So once you get past the lower part and start heading up, you can back down, but your not supposed to turn and carve your way back. Just like a road, your supposed to follow the direction of traffic. Of course going during the week, there's 1 ranger there so people do more of what they want. Its the weekends you really have to watch out. Once you hit the face of test, your supposed to go one direction the whole series of dunes. You have to peel off way to the right to go multi direction again.
If you head towards the water past test, turn right, there's a great multi direction dune the quads usually set up at, thats great for that type of stuff. And your buddies can sit at the top and warn traffic. |

Krazwag thats true. The dunes are setup in a sort of oval with various area where everybody goes in all sorts of directions. The side of the dunes (East side away from the lake) is considered a south bound direction ONLY. In that you are heading south on it as long as you are still on the north side of a hill other people heading south can see you and thus avoid you. So you are allowed to turn around before the peak of the hill and generally do what you wish. Once over the peak of a hill you are supposed to go on down it and past the wrong way signs and by that time you pass them you are on the face of the next hill and can be seen by approaching riders/drivers and thus can mess around on the face of that hill. But going back past north on this side of the dunes past the wrong way signs puts you in "The landing zone" I see bikers there all the time that can land halfway down the hill. There are guys running around in $$$$$ Long travel rails and many of them get air off the hills as its directional and there is not supposed to be anyone coming up the hills backside. There are even trucks that bomb over these areas quite fast (Some ebaters getting beat and some NICE showing off thier stuff) and it only takes a second before two people realize (often they don't) they are gonna hit. Long story short. The signs are there to prevent people from hitting each other. I have seen many accidents there first hand due to somone ignoring this rule and its not worth risking someone getting hurt for that. Pleanty of other areas to get that kind of shot for a video. If need be. You will still get a ticket if the DNR sees you. But if you gotta do this you should at least use radios and a spotter to warn. Funs great but not at putting others at risk. Yourself? Hey thats your biz. Done right you can try whatever you want. Just don't risk others necks or machines in the process.
