I know nothing about them. Can you give me a little info? Is it all g code or conversational? ANy problems inherent in it? I know hitachi seiki is out of the US now and Mori seiki is supposedly providing service but at a steep price.

92 Hitatchi probably has a Fanuc controller, G-code only. Mori doesn't provide sevrice, the importet does, Yamazen international. I would rather shoot Myself that deal with them agian.

I understand and am shying away from themachine for that reason. It is not a fanuc control so far as I can tell. The info I have is that it is a Seikos M control? If it was a fanuc I'd be more comfortable considering it. I've not found any info anywhere about the SeikosM control. Thanks for the info.

Heres what i remember about the one i use to run(not sure of the model #)

Tight door openings make setup PIA.
Everyone hated controller.
Had to run off separate desktop to do big parts.(3 axis stuff)
Coolant tanks sucked.

Fast machining and tool changer.
Killer coolant pressure.(compared to a fadal that basically drips out)

This is a Model VK45. I'm really comfortable with the machine fitting my needs perfectly but am scared of the controller since I know nothing about it.

Till something gets a little out of whack in the tool changer and it starts throwing tools around. Nothing like a 5# face mill getting tossed through the front window except maybe when you find out Yamazen wants 600$ for a replacement window [smilie=banghead.gif] with a 5 week lead time [smilie=banghead.gif] .......... 10$ in plexi later, We were back in business.
