Default Craigs list find, this sh*t don't happen everyday.

I've heard about this sh*t happening to people, just never me..

So last night, flipping through craigslist looking for good deals as usual, end up a few states away in the tool section and I come across an ad. 12 foot Wysong air shear and 12 foot Chicago brake for sale, call for more info (no pricing, no pics). I call the guy up, he tells me they were in an old mobile home manufacturing building that went out of business a few years back, been sitting there ever since. The building just got sold and the new owners paid this guy to get rid of whatever was left, which was these 2 big items and a couple radial saws.

I'm thinking, cool, gonna be way outta my price range (seen these shears sell for over 10k, brakes sell for around 9k or more), but i'll go ahead and ask for sh*ts and giggles. The guy says, well, I don't really know what their worth, was hoping someone would tell me, then he says....

wait for it...........

wait................

$500 each sound ok?

So just to make sure I heard him right, I say (as calm as I possibly could, and like i'm only partially interested) so 1 thousand dollars for the set? He says yeah, that sound ok? I said, ok, i'll take them, how much do they weigh, and can you possibly load them for me if I get a shipper out there? He says, well, shooting from the hip i'm thinking about 1,000 pounds each, they look pretty heavy?

So yeah, this guy really didn't know what he had (the 8 foot brake I currently have weighs over 3k pounds). I told him I was gonna make a few calls and get shipping setup for tomorrow morning. I got online and found out the brake weighs 3,800 pounds, and the shear weighs 6,300 pounds, so I call the guy back and ask him if someone around there has a big forklift that can handle over 6,300 pounds, and luckily the guy across the street had a 20k forklift and said he'd help him. I called a shipping company last night, paid them up front ($925 for extremely short notice, lol), took them the 1k cash to give the guy, and the trucker left at 3 am this morning, got there are 9 am, and was loaded up and on his way back by 9:30. So, 4:00 rolls around and my 2 new tools just showed up. Already hooked them up and they work awesome, prob. gonna stick a new paint job on them, have some new extensions built for the shear, and i'll be good to go..

As I said, i've heard of this kinda stuff happening to people, but never actually happened to me.............

until now...

over 14 foot long each and hella fun to unload....

Def a good catch for someone who does what you do. I dunno about Mobile homes like BN says but I could see a Yoshi Buggy sitting on the back of a Yoshi trailer with a Yoshi living quarters built on the front.

Just curious Yoshi how you search Craigs list.

You use this or something like it?

Not going into the mobile home business, but my newest project (on something else I got a smokin deal on) Is this 2000 FL70 freightliner. It has 24k miles on the Mercedes motor, air ride suspension and is ready for me to start my next big project. Gonna have 14 foot of living, a 12 foot garage in the back with a dovetail for a rail, (2) 12 foot slide outs and a pop up roof. Gonna try to get started on the floor in the next couple weeks. I found some amazing material for the sides so it will be rivetless with a few seams visible...

I swear I could make a living off that place. I check it the second I wake up, right before I go to bed, and pretty much every hour on the hour so I can grab the really good deals quick locally. I keep a wad of cash on hand for the deals I may find late at night in case I couldn't get to the bank...........
